I just can’t wrap my head around their obsession with this pick. To me, he’s another Ian Book/Jake Haener.

Is this all because of that Netflix show when he was a teenager? Because he played for Lincoln Riley (and sucked)?

high profile QB talent, underperformed in college, with good measurables winds up on a team that will need a QB in 2-3 years. He would make for an amazing comeback story.

Are you a tard? I’m not saying he’s going to be a starter in this league or what his career will be, but if you watch him throw the football and think Haener or Book then you need to apply for that monthly disability check now cause you’re missing out on some money.

Because the fans are.

The fans flipped when we drafted him, and twitter was filled with hot takes from fans saying he would be the starter at some point

He was a #1, 5 Star recruit that got dealt some bad hands and made some bad hands for himself.

He was supposed to go in the 3rd-ish round and fell to the 5th, to a team with a mediocre QB situation.

Media needs a story to draw viewers.

He is an easy selection.

the only similarity to Book and Haener is that they were all drafted by the Saints. Aside from being excited about Rattler’s potential, I think the media (and fans obviously) are still not bought into Carr. Hoping for Rattler’s success after being drafted by the Saints is a good story.

At one point, he was considered a top 5 pick

And it’s the off-season. What else is there to talk to about?

He isn’t as good a prospect as Haener

Dude has a far higher ceiling than either of those guys assuming he has truly matured.

Durrrrrr I can’t understand why the media/fans are interested in a young QB with immense potential that fell in the draft due to how he portrayed himself as a 17 year old that the saints were smart to grab in the 5th round durrrrr

Is this true? I haven't really seen that much media coverage on him after the draft and post draft commentary periods. Just some YouTube interviews and things like that. I feel like I’ve seen just as much on Fuaga and Bub.

And then we saw him play. He was benched at Oklahoma and wasn’t special at South Carolina

Not just the media. We legit have posters on this board expecting a 5th rounder to be starting in the near future.

Could it happen in a very long shot kinda way, sure. Is it likely? Hell no.

Just shows how little there is to be excited about currently under this regime.

Because he's an exciting player with a big time arm.

He actually played well for OU, they were just really spoiled by elite QB play (mayfield, murray, hurts) and when he wasn't perfect he caught alot of the criticism. Went 9-2, with 3,000 yards and 28 TDs as a 19 year old isn't bad. Won the big-12 championship. And beat #7 Florida in the cotton bowl. One of OU's biggest victories in the past decade.

He had his ups and downs. Ended up getting beat out by Caleb Williams even though he hadn't lost a game in 2020.

Transferred to USCe and showed alot of maturity and growth. Not as much statistical success but that had alot to do with USCe being an inferior program in the SEC. Still he showed flashes of greatness. The 2022 Tennessee game comes to mind. The cocks upset the #6 ranked Volunteers 63-38. Rattler went: (30-37, 438 yards and 6 TDs).

He was a high profile college recruit who, at times, was seen as a potential 1st round pick. That didn't materialize, but the intrigue is the possibility of that raw talent manifesting in the right spot in the NFL. The team he's own doesn't have a surefire HOF QB. In fact, most people are still, at best, lukewarm on Carr. Rattler represents the POSSIBILITY of something great even if the probability of that happening might be low.

Rattler isn’t as good as a prospect as the 5ft 10 guy who kept forcing the ball to frickin Krull in triple coverage damn near every play of the preseason while also developing an addiction to PED’s?

You got nothing to worry about as long as Derek Carr stays healthy.

Obsessed is a giant overstatement but they're always going to talk up someone new and he's the most notable addition this offseason at a glamour position.
