Because been the most realistic upper tier OT(a huge position of need),that could possibly fall to the Saints. No one expected to get Neal or Cross.

No one is infatuated. They just know it was a need for the saints. And fans like their teams to fill needs more than they want BPA

I never heard of him before a week ago. All I can guess is that you can’t teach size, motor and desire. Saints got to see him at Senior Bowl practices. If he holds twice a game but opens holes for Kamara or gives Jameis time to throw 40 yards downfield to Olave it will be a great move. Might not “peak” until year 2-3 but like the pick!

Honestly the only reply worth a damn. Much better than “he big and we need left tackle!!”

Yeah.. not ideal. Very popular with message boards and not so popular from the draft experts. Hope he moves to RT and have Ram move to LT. just don’t want to get in third and long situations with this guy

He is a big, strong, athletic, and nasty tackle that with coaching can be one of the better tackles in the league.

No one expected much out of Big Ram when we drafted him at 1-31 either

Penning has everything you want in a tackle. He just hasn’t put it all together yet. Think he ends up being better than Neal 10 years from now

He was one of the most penalized left tackles playing against D2 competition. He held on several one-on-one reps during the senior bowl. He held a DE so bad on one rep he threw the defender into Desmond Ridder’s knees.

Why was he considered a 1st round pick across the board? You cherry picked issues. There’s no such thing as an infallible athlete. Period.

I feel like he’ll get abused by NFL defensive ends. Idk sorry to rain on everyone’s parade

His RAS score was 9.96 out of 10. We know the Saints base a lot on that score. That might be why they were high on him. I dont know if he's a day 1 starter but the RAS indicates he has the athleticism to develop into a badass NFL starter.

He’s big, he’s strong, he’s nasty, he’s athletic (#7 RAS ever for OT).

We have Doug fricking Marrone coaching OL

Kids gonna destroy this league

That T we drafted aint much better than Peat. And hes slated to miss at least 3x games a season with some bs injury.

Hot take. Pennington is millenial Peat 2.0
