Why does the Saints offense dominate regular season then halt in playoffs?
Year in, year out.

Playoff time teams/defenses had our number. They knew how to beat us. Or shut down Drew, our offense.

What is different in playoff game plan?

Bad luck we played/and beat the teams already during regular season?

Minnesota, Los Angeles, Tampa Bay...

Sorry question likely a few days late...

Interior Pressure (Vikings)

LA Rams and Saints both played elite defense that game and neutralized each other, so I think it was both teams exceling. Remember how elite both were offensively.

Tampa Bay - definitely injury and game plan. Poorly timed turnovers. I also think Harris was a huge game plan to mismatch their linebackers to open up other guys.

3 of the strongest QB arms in the NFL are 3 of the 4 left in the playoffs.

The short passing game works great in the regular season.

In the playoffs, you have to be able to go deep and make some tougher throws, throws that for the past 3 years or so, Drew is just not capable of.

It's the NFL, tough to win it all in this league. Some of our fans think we should be the Patriots of old, like some LSU fans want to compare everything to Alabama. Championships are tough to win. Just look at the last 15 years in the NFL...Seattle probably has had some teams that could of won it all several times, but only has 1 championship. Packers, same thing. Heck the 49ers have lost 2 superbowls and zero hardware. It's not a Saints problem, it's a tough to win in that league problem. Enjoy the success we have had my friends, it could be a lot worse.

And for whatever reason when the 3rd quarter comes Payton like to stop calling running plays...Kamara was having a day then boom it gets halted

The Saints offense never felt elite all regular season. We hoped it was due to injuries and all would eventually come together, but that never happened.

The defenses know Brees no longer can throw the ball deep. No threat. Put all the defenders up close to take away the short passes. Equals loss for Saints in playoffs

Because elite defenses can take away underneath stuff when there’s no threat of getting burned deep.

Simple as that.

They’ve won with smoke and mirrors the last few years. That works against bad teams but the elite shut it down.

You think Kamara is good now? If he had a qb that could throw long... oh my

The past 4 years our offense has gotten off to painfully slow starts in basically all our playoff games. Game we should have won handily (Eagles, Bears) our offense struggled to get going.

Brees is the greatest Saint of all time and I’ll miss him, but damn it’ll be nice to have an offense that can drive the ball down the field.

Bad offensive play for Rams Vikings and tampa.

Multiple times in all 3 games we couldn’t get in the end zone and settled for 3.

Sean Payton loses his cajones in January.

Game plans become super conservative.

Sean Payton is 9-7 in the Playoffs, right? That's a winning record, but, I admit the last four playoff appearances have been mediocre to poor.

Players most of them have NO heart or Soul and no one to motivate them to the next level. Pathetic and sad

Huh no.
It’s a combo of things, 2017 we got whooped in the first half. We got it going in the 2nd half well and ended up losing in a freak play as time ran out.
2018 offense started off slow, should’ve had 14 points out the gate and ended up with 6. That came to bite us in the end, along with the most fricked up no call known to man.
2019, settled for early fg’s again, got dominated at the line by Danielle hunter. Offense tried dinking and dunking, tried going deep and got picked off.
2020, settled for early fg, once the Bucs realized we were going to go more than 5 yards on a pass the started clamping down. Cook fumbling turned the tide.

This....end post move on there are no other answers besides this one. Defenses are amazing when the only have to cover 15-20 yards down field.
