I want Calijah Kancey. He’s undersized at DT but he was an all American at Pitt and would be a plug and play 3 tech DT that you could play next to Onyemata if they can get him back. If Bijan Robinson is still there at 29 though it would be hard for me not to grab him. He’s the bell cow RB we need so badly. At 40 I would love to get Demario Davis’ eventual successor in Drew Sanders from Arkansas or Peat’s replacement in O’Cyrus Torrence. This is a poor WR draft so I would do my best to beef up the front 7 on defense.

I don’t like any of the WRs this class. These are my guys in this order

Lukas Van Ness
Nolan Smith
Calijah Kancey
Bijan Robinson
Jahmyr Gibbs
OCyrus Torrence
Siaki Ika
Antonio Johnson

If it ain’t any of them…that means Murphy or Breese fell but I’m not as big on those guys as the ones listed. I also really like Brian Branch but he won’t fall despite a subpar combine

Torrence is weird. I’ve seen him as high as 12-15 and as low as 29. He won’t be there in the 2nd. Drew Sanders would be but I’d rather just keep Elliss and focus on the DL and RB

I love Van Ness but I think he goes top 20. Kancey probably goes around 20-24 too but I would love if either fell. I know it’s taboo to draft RB in round 1 now but if Bijan Robinson is there you have to take him. He and Kamara would be the best RB tandem in the league and you wouldn’t have to run Kamara between the tackles as much. This is considered a down draft with only about 17-20 guys with true round 1 grades so if all else fails it never hurts to beef up your lines.

If he started for Iowa this year, he’d be top 12-15. He’s going to be great.

I don’t think Bijan falls either. Someone will fall in love with him

Bijan is the most complete RB to come out of college in years. He does it all. Gibbs at 40 would be a nice pick too. He was Alabama’s entire offense at times. Van Ness I think is going to be great. If he fell to us it would be a miracle.

I know many don't like Gibbs, but he is going to be very good.

BJ doesn’t really fit our D. We need our DE a little bigger that can hold up in run support. He’s more of a 3-4 OLB in the NFL. Our DE need to be in the 270-290 range.

Kancey is a guy I definitely want, but his combine results might have moved him way out of our range.

I love the thought of Darnell Washington from Georgia. Great red zone TE and he’s a hell of a run blocker

Man I just can't see a 1st rd or even a 2nd rd RB.

Cam Jordan summed it up in a response tweet to someone who mentioned Cam to "Get on this one" when the Titans announced they were shopping Derrick Henry.

Cam's response,
"Why? Do you know the offense we've built the last two decades::.. Lol we refuse to give AK 20 totes a game...D Henry need 30-40 but ok"

He's got a point. The Saints are not a RB driven team. but we do need to draft a young guy this year just not at 29 or 40.

Gibbs is essentially Kamara 2.0.

If we have a chance at him I would certainly consider it.

Defense is a bigger need than RB and the value at 29 & likely 40 is not RB.

There will be guys in the 3rd or 4th that will fit the Saints and at a much better value.

A big NT, Edge rusher and/or TE should be the top priorities for the first two picks imo. RB and Safety are next on the priority list. Possibly a WR as high as the 2nd or 3rd if in fact Thomas is released.

Exactly. Gibbs would effectively replace Kamara allowing you to shop him after next year when his suspension is behind him. Someone will take him just like they took Christian McCaffrey. We won’t get the return Carolina did but to get off his contract and maybe get a 3rd round pick? I’ll do that deal. We have to find a power back though wether that’s a free agent or draft pick or both. My first choice would be Jamaal Williams from Detroit but if he’s out of our price range I like Alexander Mattisson from the Vikings. In the draft there’s a ton of quality power backs you can get in the middle rounds. My first choice would be beef up the front 7 and find a replacement for Peat though.

Not opposed to Gibbs, but the Saints could address bigger needs with higher rated players at 29 & 40 IMO. I don't know how they rank the RB priority but I can't see it being higher than a D-Linemen or replacement for Davenport on the edge. I might even put TE above RB depending on how the Johnson talks go.

I’d pick Robinson if he fell to 29, (but it’s not happening) Gibbs if he’s there at 40 (also doubtful but there’s a chance) depending on what else is there, but I’d really want Tank or Achane in the third. That’s where the value is at.

I think we have to get a dt or de with our first and kinda hoping for Antonio Johnson in the 2nd with a rb in the third.

Current Mock Draft on PFF I have

29: Bijan Robinson RB
40: Drew Sanders LB
71: Kelee Ringo CB
115: KJ Henry DE
148: Chandler Zavala G
167: Jonah Tavai DT
229: Cameron Young DT
260: Anthony Bradford G

Last five picks I shore up the trenches with fresh, young, and most importantly cheap talent. I have my RB for the next 5 years. And then I get two very good defenders from the SEC that will need to step in right away.

Now all I need in FA is a WR to replace Landry. Maybe a TE.
