Insane how?

In some ways yes, but different I guess. As passionate as Bobby, but more critical since the Saints were so bad. He really loved the Saints and would not bite his tongue. Listening to Buddgy D as I went home to Morgan City after a Saints game as a kid with the fam was always classic! Of course my dad would likely be pissed about the Saints play and the traffic. The tension was palpable!

When Buddy first took over the post game show after Hap Glaudi passed away, it was still called Hap's Point After. My friends and I would wait to see how many callers it would take before someone would call him Hap.
Caller: Hey Hap, what did you think about that play when Bobby overthrew Eric Martin in the end zone?
Buddy: I'm not Hap!
Caller: Then why is the show called Hap's Point After?
Buddy: Get this squirrel off of here.

Actually, I never heard Buddy say anything like "I'm not Hap!"

While he was obviously annoyed, he seldom even corrected these callers, much less went postal on them for it.

I did a couple of times. It was usually after about 5 callers in a row called him Hap. You knew the callers were trying to piss him off.

Some people just liked to mess with him you would get callers who called him "hap" my grandpa used to call daily and it made it's day when he got to talk to buddy. Though he was definetly a squirrel.

On draft day. About 5 times.

Back when he was on TV, I remeber him calling George Brett of the KC Royals, George "Bert" all the time

Buddy D went to Mass daily.

You could always count on seeing him and some other local "celebs" at the Fairgrounds if you went on Fat Tuesday. I think his son used to do the between race analysis on the internal video feed there but that was many years ago and I could be wrong.

He had a tv show for a season or two and he would take calls. I asked if the Saints were interested in drafting Howard Stern. He laughed and then just started talking about other stuff. He had a sense of humor.
