Who is with me that Kilmer should not have replaced Cuozzo?

Cuozzo already had NFL QB experience. Why did Coach Fears replace him with a guy who played Halfback for the SF 49'ers?
This bone head coaching decision probably cost the Saints a Superbowl appearance in 1970 or so.

Cuozzo had a cannon for an arm. Kilmer's passes looked like a wounded duck. Kilmer was the better leader. When Kilmer replaced Cuozzo I don't remember much controversy about it.
The Saints were terrible and everyone blamed the QB. The next year we booed Kilmer out of the stadium even though he had guts enough to be playing on a broken leg which would never happen today.
I have heard Kilmer be introduced as the player responsible for the biggest fan club in the NFL. It was the Ed Hargett Fan Club. We had 80,000 people in Tulane Stadium stomping up and down chanting "We Want Hargett".

Love Gary - dude rocked his authentic color rush jersey better than any Saint not named Alvin Kamara or Kiko Alonso, kicked it into the wee small hours of the night eating pasta, drinking wine, and listening to Dean Martin with Joe Impastato, and (I have zero first hand knowledge of this, but) was probably not woke.

I also had the bad experience of seeing him in Tiger Stadium.
Back then we used to play Texas A&M on a regular basis and we used to play them in BR every time because they had a small stadium out in the middle of nowhere and got very few fans at their games.

Thank God somebody FINALLY posted about this. I have been afraid to post about this, due to the intense passion about this subject! The Cuozzo/ Kilmer controversy sometime wakes me up in a cold sweat at night and needs to be addressed so we can all get on with our lives!

WTF are you talking about? The Saints never won more than 5 games in a season until 1978 much less sniff a Super Bowl.

they shouldve kept Charleton Heston as the starter. He was getting up there in age but still had it. He was Number One
