Obviously Brees and Armstead...

I would assume we would try to rest Kamara and Ingram and let Washington take most of the carries.

Ideally we sit Mike Thomas and let Kirkwood get his reps

Clapp/Tom fill in for Armstead and Peat or Unger.

Hendrickson/Loween fill in for Jordan

Robertson for Demario Davis

Any thoughts?

Sit everyone on offense that isn’t a rookie and star Taysum Hill for maximum shenanigans.

On defense, keep the rookies in the lineup along with onyamata, analzone, and teo:

Focus on stopping the run, play press coverage on recievers, and blitz carolina’s backup scrub.

I'm going over to Airline and volunteer my time to get the OL another fill in. All of those boys need a rest.

i think its pretty evident they will play the 3rd string exclusively to the extent they can and sit all starters.

maybe half the 2nd stringers will have to play as well but this will be a "whoever didnt get to play in a game this year, get out there"

How many roster spots do you think there are?

Can we get the Panthers to agree to a 7 on 7 game because if we rest the starters, we may not be able to field a team at certain positions.

Brees out - Bridgewater starts & I'm not even sure Hill will get his normal offensive package... it'll be a light load for TH7

Ingram & Kamara out - Washington & Line get the RB carries

Thomas out - let Ginn get some reps to continue to get his game legs back (even though he may already have them)... Tommylee, Tre'Quan, Kirkwood, Carr also out there at WR

Watson out - Dan Arnold active this week (correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he was a healthy scratch last week)

Armstead obviously out... not really sure we can do a lot with the O Line - Clapp & Tom will play most plays but some starters will have to play too

the defensive back situation will be interesting against the CAR back-up QB... Banjo, Coleman, Crawley, Hardee, Robinson

DL & LB will also have some regulars playing due to numbers... but I imagine no Davis or Cam Jordan or Rankins... perhaps Te'o gets back in a game again along with Stallworth & Vince Biegel

It's a 53 man roster. Take out the kicker, punter, and long snapper and that's 50. 11 on offense and 11 on defense and it BARELY goes past 2 deep at a couple of positions.

Hell Oline doesn't even go 2 deep. I expect given the injuries we may try to shuffle a spot or two just to try to get one or two more Olinemen on the 53 (maybe cut Loewen and Carr and send them to the PS).

Only maybe 10 or so guys sit for the whole game. That's Brees, Thomas, Kamara, Ingram, Armstead, Ramczyk, Jordan, Rankins, Davis, Lattimore, M. Williams, and maybe a couple of more depending on roster moves (you'd like to sit Peat, Unger, and Warford if possible but they'll likely have to rotate at least two of them). Someone like Ginn they may want to give a few snaps to.

And you only have 7 inactives, so I expect that to be the extremely obvious guys that will definitely not play, so Brees, Thomas, Kamara, Armstead, Jordan, Davis (or maybe Lattimore or Rankins), and maybe Ramczyk depending on if we get someone in at OT.

Even though you want to give your backups most of the snaps, you don't want to overdo it with them either, so you'll see a little rotation.

This is why there should be 60 roster spots

Honestly I'd like to see maybe a short term disabled list, with the ability to use someone of the same position group from your PS as long as the guy on the 53 remains on the disabled list (and of course the guy from the PS would get the standard vet minimum game check for each game he is used in this way).

That's if there is too much resistance on expanding roster size. It's the owners' call and it'll cost them more money, so any increase to roster size will be met with at least some resistance.

The obvious answer would be to increase roster size but I'm not expecting that to fly cleanly.

Sir Saint needs to take the week off. Gotta have him at his best for the playoffs.

They don’t pay players to sit on the bench in the NFL except for the 2nd string QB.

I'm thinking maybe we should cross train all our backup OL and DL and have them play both ways. Give them a Christmas bonus or something. j/k. Our whole OL really does need to rest.
