In the dome. I remember it getting crazy high last year against Carolina in the wild card game . I wasn't at the nfc championship game against minny in 09 but I'd guess it would've been pretty nuts in that game.

It’s fake. It just spits out numbers to generate enthusiasm.

The crowd noise in Atlanta was proven to be fake.

The players don't care as much about the noise as the media makes out but they don't say it. They like to encourage fans to go to games and be passionate but on the field it really is a small issue. The teams can practice for noise and use other methods of communicating.

I wouldn't get too wound up about decibels.

Clearly you’ve never seen a “fan impact play” in the dome.

I was there for 2009 Viking playoff game and you could not hear the person sitting next to you screaming, the announcer said it was comparable to a large jet engine on takeoff.

I was there for Hakeem drops the ball... and I swear I thought the roof was going to collapse because of the noise and people jumping up and down

It's true but you should have been there in the Dome reopening vs Atlanta.

All of this is just false.

NFC title game and Falcons Katrina game peaked at 125. I have my decibel reader in 601. Highest peak this year is 118.5. The dome one is pretty close to mine with the 105-110 sustained noise during loud moments on defense. Last 120 that hit on mine was a big stop in the Panther playoff game last year.

It’s definitely fake. The meaningless Week 17’s decibel numbers were right up there with the rest of the important games. Week 17 had a lot of non-regular fans and a lot of empty seats, too. It’s definitely fake.

They played that during last week's Panthers game. What a joke. At the time the Dome was half empty and very few of us were paying attention to the game.

Obviously NFL Coaches and Players can practice ways to work around the noise but ANY distractions that take time away from coaches installing the game plan, especially when its likely to be the biggest game of these guys careers. The noise in the Dome may seem like a minor distraction but when it's too loud to hear the guy next to you and all 11 of you are forced to rely on other means of communication it can absolutely wreak havoc on an offense. Especially the types of offenses that are being run nowadays. Aside from the "false start" penalties which are the most common a lot of teams are also running a shite load of timing routes that can be affected as well.

Bottom line is that crowd noise can and absolutely does have a negative effect on the visiting teams offenses. Which is why the SUPERDOME has been a huge advantage for our Saints, especially since Drew and Sean brought the franchise to the top of the NFL mountain. Let's all hope and pray that they have at least 2 more games of ELITE play in them! WHO DAT!!!
