Assuming they keep Allen:

Have Cal McNair channel his inner Bill O'Brien and give the Saints their #2 overall this year, and a first and third round pick in 2024 for the rights to Payton.

The Saints then trade DOWN for a change and get a shite ton of picks, from which they get Bijan Robinson, Jonathon Mingo, Hendon Hooker (who drops into the middle of second round),and a plug and play O-lineman and Safety.

And even then I will be slightly above apathetic because...well they are the Saints.

A couple of bad seasons dont bother me. When it becomes prolonged and they do the same mistakes over and over like the Pels did for a while its when its a problem.

As long as they show something in terms of a change im good. Even if its just changing the OC

Getting someone like Rodgers or Lamar to be our Qb, or maybe getting hooker in the draft i guess

A lot of sloppy, undisciplined, passion lacking football this year. Despite that and some big injuries, the only game we weren’t in this year was vs BAL. That’s the most frustrating part

Allen has to be fired.

I agree Gyno but I just don’t think that’s how Loomis operates. I’d be pretty shocked if he was.

To answer OP:

I’m not sure there’s a lot to make me not apathetic if DA is retained, but:

1) Hire young, interesting OC
2) draft or acquire a QB that could be the future
3) acquire future draft picks
4) start to get the salary cap back to not being a black hole

If they do all that I’d at least pay attention a bit. A little bit.

The CBA deal with scaled back practices have hit the O-line more than any other unit.

I'm not talking about just the Saints O-line.

you see all these lower scoring games and a frick ton of different QB's playing.

like almost 70 different starting qB's this season.

it's bad blocking and injuries.

It would take the NFL coming out and being completely open and honest about the type of operation they are running

They keep Allen and I 99% have a chance of not watching anything next year.

Agreed. Extending this may have worked but they chose poorly. The locker room probably doesn’t hate Allen, but pretty obvious they don’t respect him..which is worse

Mickey and co. will blame injuries and point towards the wins down the stretch but between the coach and Qb situation I can’t force myself to care much about this team’s immediate future

trouble is Allen AINT getting fired.

Who would we go and get anyway to replace him unless Payton remarkably is like, oh yeah, let me come back.

And then who would Saints management even consider if they did fire Allen?

last year it was Pederson, Flores, and Bieniemy.

two of those guys aren't HC's and one has Jacksonville in the playoffs.

Seriously, who is calling the fricking shots? It's not DA clearly.

Loomis?

okay. I wonder how many executive decisions he's made over the years because that kind of shite isn't detailed.

If the condition is that Allen stays, I’d have to see a significant upgrade at OC and QB, however unattainable that is.

I think Loomis deserves to lose his job both for hiring Dennis and the overall gamble of trying to extend this, our outlook now looks like complete shite and we have nothing to show for it. Firing him though is extremely unlikely as he appears to be lodged firmly up Gayle's arse.

He should at least admit his failure in Allen and get rid of him. How much more of a sample size do we need to determine he's just not a HC? I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and chalk his Raiders tenure up to them being a horrid organization...but having a front row seat to it this year, he sucks.

Sean's offensive prowess was great but its really all of the things he did outside of that which made him an elite HC.

We are way better off than we were then.

Kamara, Ramczyk, McCoy, Olave, McCoy, Ruiz, Cam, Onyametta, Werner, Davis, Ellis, Taylor, Lattimore, Adebo, J. Johnson, etc.

We need to upgrade a few OL positions, the Saftey spot, QB and coach.
