I said in the off-season the Fairly contract was a huge mistake and that was before the heart issue came up,

Now it all makes sense.

All year QBs we're able to step up into the pocket if the DEs got a good jump.

what about the play where Cam Newton got belted by David Onyemata in the Wild Card game? I hear you though. George Johnson was a late season add and he finished 5th on the team with 2.5 sacks. That is saying something. Plus the fact that Vonn Bell and Okafor were tied for 2nd with 4.5 sacks each isn't very encouraging.

more pressure on the QB helping our young talented secondary make plays

at times the secondary was playing so well that it bought our undermanned D-line more time to get to the QB.

The Rams game where we had the starting corners out though, Cam Jordan absolutely balled out. Might have been his best game of the year besides the Lions game?

SIAP. Just saw this & I didn't see the need to start a new thread. Crawley fell off some as the season went on, but he was a legit #2 CB for us this year. Best Red Zone coverage in the entire league. Not bad for a 2nd year udfa that probably hasn't reached his ceiling yet.

There are very good players at the bottom of round 1 every year, the perennially good teams like the Steelers & Pat's find them, Pitt drafted Watt this year, they drafted Bud Dupree a few years ago at 24-25. They're are good players the first 100 picks for sure, look at our draft. It's all about your GM, before Ireland our drafts and FAs were crap, since he arrived we've been a different team, if he's making the Peat and Anthony pick we are in the SB this year. Been very impressed with him

DT Vita Vea 6'5 350.. Not just a space eater he commands double teams, great penetrator in passing downs, stout at the run, pushes lineman back!

TE At penn state 6'5 255.. great hands, polished route runner, great blocker

(Big If) Mason Rudolph.. Qb for Ok State.. Enough said

Pick one and we're in good hands!

I think a good qb will be there at 27.

Rosen, Allen, and Darnold will be gone.

I think Jackson, Rudolph, or Mayfield will be there.

Could be a good year to draft Brees successor. In any other year if Rosen, Allen, and Darnold were not there then the other three would be gone in the top half of the first round. Always a good idea to draft a position that is top loaded as you would get extreme value with the pick.

Would love to see what Payton could do with Jackson.

Your really gonna negate my point with a single play, I know you were half joking. I like Onyemata alot but If the DT position was good enough they wouldnt have given the biggest contract of the off-season to a DT. Of course real world, after fall will see what we have and take the best player at DT DE or LB. DONT wanna spend a first on a SS, I get really good ones in my Madden draft every year in the 5-7th round lol

Yeah I like him too, but we don't have a good track record with Washington..Kikaha never developed into the pass rusher we hoped he would.

such a stupid reason to avoid drafting someone

Would love him but he's going to test well and go very high. The guy screams the next Calais Campbell. He's going to be a stud. But yeah he will be long gone

That was last year. We're talking about this year. Onyemata and Davison played really well and can only get better.

Streif is 99 percent retiring.
Unger is around for another year probably two.
Definitely have to get another pass rusher, even if we resign okafir we still need another pass rusher just think if someone gets hurt again.
Pass rusher 1.
Then I'd go linebacker or te

Assuming everyone comes back healthy, we don't really have glaring holes - just depth concerns and player life-cycle management.

If that's the case, there are probably 4 or 5 positions of equal importance/need that make me think the Saints take best available at the time.

For example, Lattimore was a steal and no one expected him to fall as far as he did. That made the Saints decision easy. If something like that happens this draft, the Saints should do the same thing regardless of position.

I'd really like to see the Saints secure Brees' long-term replacement. The ideal situation would be to find the next Steve Young to replace our Joe Montana (Brees).
