If he turns out to be awesome, I think you would also have to believe the oline would have to have a solid season and also be a strength of the team. Plus, you will be in the final/void year for a lot of older and expensive contracts. So I would speculate next offseason you would see a lot of new posters as over 1/2 of the sky is falling posters create new accounts, Mickey will get back to being aggressive in the offseason to overspend for the missing pieces (primarily to restock the aging/retiring def) and as another poster said you can focus on weapons in the draft (WRs are now too expensive in FA)

Hitting on Shough and Banks along with recouping the Carr money would probably push the rebuild ahead 2 good years.

I know. Not to mention wasn'tDrew Brees 25 when he came to the Saints? And he played 17 years for us.

You have to like all the intangible things he’s done so far to ingratiate himself to the city.

Hopefully he can come in and develop a lot this year. Based on what I’ve seen and read, he’s kind of a gunslinger with the ball and takes chances, so it should be interesting this season.

We have some talented RBs and should have a good young OL. That’s what we should lean on this year. Our WRs and TEs are ehh, so the passing game should be a secondary option. It’ll be interesting to see this teams identity develop over the year.

He's like 2 months older than Bo Nix, who just finished a good rookie season (and didn't have the injury excuse for his prolonged college career).

Bo Nix played his rookie year at 24

Shough will play his rookie year at 26

Exactly. He’ll be 27 before he isn’t a rookie.

again, wrong. He'll start next season at 26. Why is this so hard for you?

Everything we have known about Saints football has had a hard reset. Brand new defense and offense. First year could be rough but we expect it to be. The rebuild has already started. We will see where we end up. I’ll go to the games I can and hopefully see improvement throughout the year.all we can hope for is improvement each week which is something we stopped seeing with DA.

I look at it like this... Saints have no floor right now. Nobody is watching us, there's no target on our backs. The only direction is up.

Why couldn't Shough be awesome? There's no reason to think he won't be. This is the kind of team that can be 0-17 or could win the division and make it to the NFC CG.

Yep……

He’s only using the “Age” Factor as an argument because he has nothing else when people comment on Shough being a very very poor draft pick at #40.

It’s called… a Distraction from the Argument.

He was a horrible pick at 40. Injury prone, no toughness under pressure, and there hasn’t been a rookie this old have a successful NFL career since Roger Staubach.

To even suggest this team can contend for the South and NFC championship game (yeah we’re leaping Philly, Washington, Tampa, Detroit, etc) is laughable.

Show me one these bottom feeding QBs can get a NFL win (which will be a first since Carr) and we can talk. It’s a 2-3 win team no matter how much whipped cream you talk on this pile of shite.

So I’m with the small majority that is very optimistic about Shough. Guy has legit arm talent. I’m tired of hearing the 27 year old rookie narrative. Guess what he can be our starting qb for over decade if he pans out. He reminds me Justin Herbert. Dude can absolutely sling it. You have seen what nfl coaching can do with talent and I believe in Moore.
