it showed total desperation to do that at that point on paytons part and signaled to his team they couldnt win straight up and needed gimmicks and stunts to try to steal a win

everything, everything about this matchup said points were going to be a premium and neither team could risk giving up easy points, yep payton says frick it we rather play from behind the whole game just on the 10% chance we get lucky and make it, then he calls a slow developing play in the backfield rather then straight up the middle needing only 1 yard

I was screaming no at that and when I saw Taysom in as the punter. At that point in the 2nd half, the defense had started stopping them

CSP has been aggressive his entire time here. Works out more often than it doesn't. I don't want him to lose his edge.

He emptied out the secret playbook to win. Good for them... for next time we know what to expect.

Need our LBs back and our DB's to tackle

Thought it was dumb when he sent them out, dumb when we didn't get it, and dumb when we lost because we had to keep chasing the points we lost.

I absolutely hated the call then, and uh yeah, I guess you can say since it cost us the game, I still hate the call.

I think he knew that the D wouldn't be able to hold up so he saw an opportunity (with the penalty) to make it a two-score game with one play.

PAT - 99% chance you get 1 extra point
2PC - ~50% chance your opponent "gets" 1 extra point
First, extra points aren't 99%

Second, based on the percentages you just proved that you should go for 2, not sure you realized that. Your expected points based on the percentages are higher with going for 2, even based on your incorrect 99%.

Decision was fine, playcall was woefully bad. It's easy to play hindsight. Had we made the right call and got the 2pt conversion and the extra point worked in our favor at the end, no one would be complaining.

I said right when we lined up that going for 2 in the first quarter was insanely dumb and we would be chasing that point the rest of the game. Not a fan of going for 2 unless it’s absolutely necessary. The play call was an even dumber decision. I was pretty excited at how well the o line and receivers played considering that niner d line is nasty. Think we should’ve ran up the middle instead of the edges a little more but overall, the offense was great. Defense had a staple bad saints defensive game.

Take the 15 yards and go for a surprise onside kick if you wanna be aggressive.Hell take the penalty on the kick and pin them deep with a sky kick.

I think that it was dumb, given the other options available. Why not kick the EP and have the penalty enforced on the KO? You're kicking off from midfield where you can either...1) just kick it through the the end zone for a TB...2) try a surprise onside kick or...3) just kick it straight and hard at one of the middle upbacks and see if you can't have it hit off one, creating a live ball situation. If you miss them, it just becomes a squib kick.

It was reckless and stupid at that point in the game even if it was successful.

There was no need for it.

You don't chase points and risk leaving them on the field against a good team like San Fran. Take the guaranteed XP at that moment in the game.

Sean Payton's tendency to get really cute and way aggressive is something we have lived by and died by in his 13 years as our coach.

I liked it at the time.

But I was definitely more for the decision than the playcall. The playcall was idiotic and that was the cute moment. Had Payton been more cutthroat he wouldn’t have run a sweep with 1 yard to go. He should have done the Brees leap because it’s automatic at the goal line. Either that or just QB sneak with Hill. That brother will get 1 yard. Hell he’ll probably dive over the top too. The decision was fine since it was on the 1. But the playcall was typical Payton cuteness.

I liked the decision to go for it there but the play called sucked. Their defensive ends were hard to stop early in the game so an off tackle run definitely wasn’t the best choice

Being aggressive is one thing, but going for 2 for absolutely no reason falls into the category of reckless.

I thought it was completely boneheaded. There was no benefit at that point of going for 2 so early on in the game.

We have to go for 2 in the first quarter to win big gamea?

Stop trusting and start thinking. Its dumb to go for two when you have no clear idea what the relationship between the score and number of possible remaining posessions looks like.
