We see teams like Miami and the 49ers compete with low end back up QBs.

They have enough talent around these QBs to compete against the best.

The failure of Loomis, Ireland and Payton to draft a guy in the late rounds and have him ready to lay behind Breas was a fatal mistake.

Sure it’s great to have a HOFer at QB, but if you don’t have one you need to build up your roster such that a serviceable guy can slide in if necessary.

The Saints WR Corp, the RB Corp and their TE Corp were all depleted over time. We lack weapons on offense and I believe we are at a point in time where even a HOF QB would struggle with our offensive roster.

Our problem WAS our HOF QB who felt he was still 25.

Our problem is our roster slipped. Draft busts, big contracts that brought in little return and mortgaging the future to cover past mistakes.

Those teams compete because of scheme/playcalling. Pete Carmichael ain't on their level.

Our problem is we HAD a shite coach for 16 years who could not develop a QB. Once he realized this he quit leaving the cubbard bare.

Also it should be noted that the Dolphins have been pretty bad this year without Tua.

Saints are 18-10 with their 2nd string QBs since 2019

And we are 1-1 in the playoffs since 2019 and 0-0 the last two seasons.

My point was you can compete with a low end QB if you stock the roster properly. Our QBs have little help at the skill positions.

Saints have a chance to completely rebuild and possibly get a stud qb in draft, and I’m reading people talking about wanting Saints to get average/mediocre qb’s and keep trying to win 8/9 games. I don’t get.

They have brilliant offensive minds leading their team and scheming up plays

We do not

What I don’t get is why the Saints haven’t built there roster with enough skilled offensive players. Sure I want a too QB but if he goes down top talent around him can still win.

Yes, they drafted a top WR this year in Olave, but they let the WR get so depleted they were reduced to nothing after the injury to Thomas.
The TE position went to crap too. We have one TB. No good QBs.

We invested a lot of capital in OL and defense and little into getting top end skill players.

But he’s talking THIS year & he’s right. We lack talent at RB, TE & WR. This is ABSOLUTELY true.

We competed with low end QB’s when Payton was our coach. Siemian was the only qb we couldn’t win with.

It's more of scheme than players. But when the scheme is superior and the players are extremely versatile then having a sub par QB doesn't hurt as much otherwise.
