Drew wants to keep playing and clearly is still playing at an elite level. Even if (God forbid) worse case scenario happens and he has to sit out the rest of the season, he will be back next year.

Absolutely no way in hell he doesn’t come back. Whether that’s next week, six weeks, or next year. He will be back.

I think it's his last game THIS year

But Brees is an ultra competitive person. Even if they think he won't have the strength or mobility of that thumb back he will try to prove them wrong. He won't go out like this. He's too prideful and stubborn and just flat out competitive to not give it a go. He will come back for better or for worse. He could come back and be the same or he could come back and be shitty.

But he'll be back. Bank on that

ou don't know what you are talking about. This isn't an ACL or Achilles in an explosive position. After most reconstructions like this the ligament is stronger. Stop being dramatic
This 100%

Granted point perfectly made about his age but this isn’t a Joe Theismann situation wait for the reports to come out before we start saying Brees last game was in the colosseum today

His age? It's not his fricking leg or arm, dumbass. It's his fricking thumb. so sick of adamant, stupid people that think they find something clever and run with it.

It’s not as serious as you think.

His hand injury is complex enough that at his age it may be 50-50 whether he gains enough mobility and strength in the thumb. That is according to an ortho surgeon friend musing on what has been reported.

"...that is according to an ortho who has never met, much less personally examined, Drew Brees."

Fixed it.

If he’s cleared to play there’s no one on the planet keeping him from going back out there. I don’t care if we’re 1-9. He’s too competitive.
