That actually isn't how it works anymore.

QBs generally get the ball out of there hands in 3 seconds now. We got quick throwed to death last year.

You want guys that can force coverage sacks as well. Seattle built their D back to front for instance.

its not really an LE attack thread, just those that wanted us to just draft a guy at pass rusher because

Yep been saying the last few years we needed guys to cover because we'd never get a rush giving up quick passes.

It works hand in hand and the CBs were really bad (yes injuries and such but still).

Fans get VERY caught up in the draft, and in particular in very specific players and positions.

FA is for targeting areas of need. It is more important in the draft to just take the right players.

Very few drafts will be as good as this past one. I just hope they keep picking the right guys that can contribute.

yeah well our need list went well beyond our number of pick list. We had no idea how guys like Okafor, Ginn, Klein, and maybe some others would play out in helping this team plug in holes. Weakside Pass Rusher will still remain a high priority moving forward especially if Okafor walks.

the thread I was actually looking for was your asking why the apathetic attitude towards Lattimore, but found this one instead

Carl Lawson or Deatrich Wise sure would look good in B&G while oft-injured Anzalone watches from the sidelines

I don't regret anything i posted in this thread. Pass rusher still a big need. We are covering well so it's not as noticeable

I don't think many people looked into the Okafor signing. Probably chalked it up as some bum who couldn't cut it somewhere else.

I didn't know much about him either TBH. He has been better already than Noah Spence, Kevin Dodd, and Barnett...

Just goes to show you. Always stick to the bargain bin FAs...we tend to strike gold there

And also shows you that drafting a DE early doesn't always mean you just drafted a Darren Howard, Will Smith, Cam Jordan, or Charles Grant

Carl Lawson

they have this guy as a situational pass rushing linebacker. Hendrickson brings a lot more to the table as a front lineman player and Anzalone brings a lot more versatility to the linebacking position especially dropping in coverage.

you could have had him and Hendrickson and not the LB who has never been healthy

You picked the only player from the draft that isn't contributing. Anzalone is a big time talent. If he can get healthy he'll be a staple of our defense.

Say what you will about drafting oft-injured players. Lattimore and Ramrod are sure playing well

We needed backers who can defend the pass as well. You just aren't comparing similar players at all. Obviously, going after this type of LB instead of a Lawson type LB was a deliberate coaching strategy... same strategy that has this defense lights out right now.
