Was this season the worst case scenario?

Assuming a miracle doesn’t happen and the Saints miss the playoffs…
1. Won max amount of games to still miss playoffs
2. Middling draft pick
3. “Winning” season means Dennis Allen is retained
4. Allen retained means he’s coaching for his job and a first round QB is unlikely
As a fan I’m trying to find something to be excited about for next season and I don’t see anything.

I mean it’s a pretty bad day BUT missing the playoffs still puts DA on the hot seat for next year if they miss again (and they will.) if they had snuck in the playoffs, that probably would have bought him more than just next year

Bro - all you can ask for is a 4 game parlay in week 17 to make the playoffs as a 7 seed.

Now your too far back to trade up for a QB.
Now DA is retained...hell now Carmichael might get another year
Now we will keep maneuvering cap to push more money to future years, locking us into players that may not be worth it when that time comes or paying them long after they are gone
Only option as a Saint fan is to expect it, and embrace it the best you can. Carr will get restructured and Saints will have no choice but to ride this roster to its complete demise.
If and when they actually tear it down Saints will go through a brutal rebuild.
Saints may not be legitimately competitive in the NFC till near the end of this decade
It's going to be a rough 4 or 5 years

You don’t feel excited about winning a meaningless game to give us worse draft position? Cmon bro.
This team is going nowhere with this coach and QB. I’d argue Carr is worse than Allen.
They need to tank next year. frick it.
