She wrote an opinion piece about how irresponsible the Saints are for doing their war room in a "bar" where "anyone could walk by" during this whole COVID thing.

Itw as published.

Its at the Dixie Brewery which is 85,000 square feet and has a conference room hall much bigger than anything at the Saints facility where they can spread out. And its in New Orleans East in the middle of nowhere.

Even Sean Payton got in on the ribbing of her. Jeez.

To paraphrase “Forrest Gump,” are you crazy or just plain stupid? In the case of the Saints and their plans for a war room in a bar, the answer is yes. Dangerous, too.

Congratulations, New Orleans Saints. You’ve finally found a way to be dumber than Mike Ditka on draft day.

The Saints are planning to hold their “war room” at the Dixie Brewery. These would be the same Saints whose coach, Sean Payton, just got the all-clear after having COVID-19. The same Saints who are based in one of the hottest spots in the country outside New York City for COVID-19 cases.

Read the comments...ouch.

And people wonder why people don't listen to the news anymore and question everything.

Same chick who wrote an article about the Kobe rape case the day after he died. Just trying to get noticed. Ignore her.

Nancy, hi. I'm the GM of Dixie Beer. I very much appreciate the publicity you've generated for our large event space. It's truly an amazing building that Mrs Benson has built - if you'd ever like to see it in person I'd be happy to show you around the entire property.

That might be one of the worst opinion pieces I’ve ever read. Holy shite.

That’s not news. It’s an editorial. Opinion piece.
Not saying she is correct, but not held to the same standard.
Equivalent to radio or TV personality just trying to drive up clicks.
Ignore it.

Still technically considered news by most organizations that have to be based somewhat in fact, even if opposed to something and clearly biased (which is the point of an opinion piece)

Good opinion pieces use facts or stats or sometimes even quotes to support why their opinion should be considered. Hell go look at any of Underhill’s opinion pieces. For Christ’s sake even Jeff fricking Duncan’s opinion pieces, even when critical, are based somewhat in fact. Her piece didn’t do that at all and required no investigation on her part. It was the equivalent to Karen ranting and raving on a god damn Facebook post. She even used “flat-out terrible” in the article

Ought to be fired for irresponsible journalism; of course. that is probably an outdated concept.

If anyone is interested, they will be interviewing her on WWL at about 6:20, which should be interesting because Hebert and Garic have been spending the last hour talking about how stupid she is. I hope she was listening.

Her own coworker, Jarrett Bell of USA Today sports, lowered the boom with an article 45 minutes ago.

Some highlights

quote:

The war room, which the team began using on Wednesday for draft meetings, is situated in upstairs office space at the Dixie Brewery, located in a remote area of New Orleans. “We might have the safest setup in the league for these meetings,” Payton texted to USA TODAY Sports on Thursday. “Remote location. Nobody here!”

quote:

As Payton indicated earlier this week during an interview with USA TODAY Sports, he reiterated Thursday that a maximum of four people, including general manager Mickey Loomis and assistant GM Jeff Ireland, will be in the spacious room – and they will follow Center for Disease Control guidelines for social distancing.

quote:

Other staff members, including scouts and assistant coaches, will be connected to pre-draft meetings and the draft itself via teleconferencing. “More importantly, the four of us in this room (are) all alone at home,” Payton texted. “Temperatures taken prior to entering room. Each day…cleaning and sterilized.”
