I guess it's all relative. You can keep churning through RFAs thinking you will find the next Tom Brady, or when one of the top 3 QBs in the draft slides to you in the middle rounds, you take him.
It's easy to shite on the pick now, but at the time it was a nice risk/reward.

I think it was pretty much shite on by saints fans then too

I was reserved on his pick. Thought maybe he was a gifted physical specimen that Payton could groom at a comfortable pace while Brees played out the end of his career.
What made my blood run cold was the preseason game, where he threw the Hail Mary pass- about 45 yds in the air. Maybe the ball slipped. I dunno.
But I want my rookie QB to have a stronger arm than the near-40 guy, who didn't have the biggest gun to begin with.

This was pick that just pissed me off the most.
6' 2" 220 Lb QBs don't slide to the third for no reason.
CSU.
Obligatory "we could have drafted Collins"

but he just didn't seem confident in minicamp in making throws or even breaking the huddle.

Seeing a lot on twitter about his footwork being his biggest problem, going to work on it really hard in between now and training camp.
He's in the big boy league now...... And has been for a while.

That's relative too. The top two QBs were 1 and 2 and whoever was rated 3rd was going to be a mid rounder. He didn't really slide.

The knock I read on Grayson when he came out was that he was not very smart and that led to hesitation in decisions
Most of what I heard is he is smart, has a high football IQ, etc. I have heard his foot work isn't very good. I think the smartness is about he doesn't process the 2nd and 3rd options very well, pretty common in QBs coming out of college. Supposedly he is pretty good, at least in college, at grasping playbooks, formations, etc.

It's definitely a wasted pick. 3rd rd pick that never takes a meaningful snap, how could it not be?
It's a risk reward thing. If he pans out, great. If not, it's a third round pick. Big deal. It's not like we are sacrificing our future and a ton of draft picks like a lot of teams do to get a franchise QB. If it were me and Drew stays healthy, I'd waste another 3rd or 4th this year if Grayson doesn't pan out. You still have time to develop a later round pick before you have to trade everything to get in the top one or 2 picks or suck bad enough to earn a 1st or 2nd overall.

Still early to get concerned about the pick. BTW how do you break the huddle with no confidence.

You can't just flush pick 75.

We hoped he would be a decent back up QB.....scouting reports said he would be a 10 year quality backup but NOT A STARTER.
It seems he won't even be a back-up !!!!

Where the frick do some of ya'll come up with all this? The dude threw maybe 10 passes all through OTAs and now he is a wasted pick b/c Larry fricking Holder says so? He is a 2nd year player in one of the more complicated offenses in the league and by no means looked bad last year in preseason. He didn't light the field on fire or anything but didn't look bad. Do half of the posters here even know what a QB is?
I mean people trashed Ingram his entire career and still do. Trashed Carl Nicks during his first training camp and called Armstead a bust after his first game to come in and play b/c he didn't handle an elite pass rusher all to well.
Nobody has a clue how Grayson is gonna pan out. He may turn out to be the worst QB (person who throws the football) in history, nobody knows. Calm the frick down, including me. I got triggered.
No confidence breaking the huddle What kind of stupid arse reporting is this?

My new source is telling me that Grayson is a young Aaron Rodgers. He has pocket awareness, breaks the pocket with authority, a rocket for an arm, can thread the needle, drops the ball in the bucket, knows when to finesse the ball, possesses Tom Brady's competitive spirit, and can tuck the ball running upfield like Cam Newton. The source may be the voice in my head. I am sure it is as reliable as Ian Rapoport. The Saints just need to find a way to get him on the field.

Grayson has the highest QB ceiling in the NFL. His ample skills are beyond description. Referees tremble when they see him just warming up on the sideline.
He is so ahead of his time....The NFL has started a new program to prepare future NFL game commentators to describe his incredible play when he hits the field.
His play will make Drew Brews look like he's playing Pee Wee Football.
There.....do the Grayson Believers feel better now ??
