I was told Underhill did nothing more than carry water for DA.

In all seriousness, barely sneaking into the playoffs shouldn’t give this staff another year.

I think this basically protects Dennis Allen. It sets the bar really low to something very achievable. He can make the playoffs in this super weak division and say, “Look, I made the playoffs. No need to fire me.”

Honestly he’ll find a way to frick this up. If Lattimore and Carr miss time it’ll get really interesting.

As it should be.

If Allen cannot win the division this year, he isn't winning it in any other year.

aging roster

please don't mistake my post below for sticking up for DA and the coaching staff, bc thats not what I'm doing.

but an aging roster?!?

Olave
Rashid
Moreaux
Juwan
AT Perry
Kendre Miller
Kamara (plenty left in the tank)
McCoy
Ram (yeah the bad knee)
Ruiz
Saldiveri
Penning (yeah we know)

Werner
Taylor
Adebo
Latt (only 27 yrs old)
Maye
Howden
Bresee
Roach
Granderson

There is a massive foundation here for the next few years. We just need a new coaching staff. Not a new roster.

I agree, our roster is fine. Having a few older players doesn’t mean we have an old roster. Our top players now are mostly younger

Story at the beginning of the season was the Saints had the oldest opening day roster. When you first see that, it makes it sound like it's a team of older players. But, when you look at the numbers, you realize it's not that far off.

Average age of Saints game 1 roster 27.4 years (ranked 32nd). Youngest roster, GB with an average age of 25.0 years.

Huh?
We are the oldest team in the league. Our best players on defense are for sure old. Cam jordan, mathieu, demario, and maye are all old. Lattimore is older for a corner. Our punter is old, carr is getting there too, taysom is old, kamara is older for a rb, ram is old by injury. Thats alot of core players who are about to fall off the cliff

Begun? I've been in this camp since it was confirmed that DennyPete were retained for another season. (I say this even though game day I can't help but cheer for the team to win...)

I think Granderson is playing better at this point. Granderson looks good against the run and pass.

mathieu

I like TM7, but I don't consider him one of our best players.

quote:

demario

I agree with you on him

quote:

Lattimore is older for a corner

Meh, he's showed no signs of slowing down.

quote:

punter is old,

He's young for a punter but he sucks regardless.

quote:

carr is getting there too

Not playing well and it's not due to age

quote:

taysom is old,

I agree but still playing well.

quote:

kamara is older for a rb

I don't disagree but still not showing signs of slowing down. I like our draft pick at RB this year fwiw. Yet, I'm having a brain fart and can't think of his name.

quote:

ram is old by injury

I can't disagree, I don't think he can't turn it around though. For a T he isn't old.

Someone has already posted our core players who are still really young in this thread. We have plenty of them.

This is a slippery slope bc it implies making the playoffs justifies keeping a terrible staff.

The facts are we play in the worst division so a .500 (maybe even worse) record would win it. Regardless, the winner will get mauled in the first round. On top of that, we have the easiest schedule and still sit here at 5-5.

For all these reasons and more, just making the playoffs isn’t enough
