He isn’t ready to play LT. Obviously

Ram goes out at RT and ok, Landon Young gets to call I get it Activate Cam Erving as emergency situation I get it. But Landon Young goes down and Cam Erving gets the call off the practice squad. Ok. But now sign some street OT to back up the back up to the back up just in case.

I’ve been a Penning supporter but damn the only way it could get worse is if the Saint called ME to suit up before giving Penning a shot to actually play.

Yeah there's something we're not aware of going on. He's disappeared completely and it makes no sense. Reporters need to ask some questions. Unacceptable to have yet another first round bust

It has to be a practice & attitude thing, because there's no way these guys play better than him. That or this is a Derek Carr flexing and saying F no to him (it is also his fault carr nearly gets killed the first 1/4 fo the season most of the time).

He's shown actual flashes of being dominant, but he's shown flashes of why he belongs on a farm away from football.

Erving is a decent player, Penning plays LT

Don’t think it’s that complicated although you’d like your investment on the field

I agree, and that's why I'm not completely ready to write him off for next year and going forward. Hopefully whatever he did will be resolved in the offseason

Penning has no future with this franchise….esp if we retain this clown show of a coaching staff

Erving is a good player and has shown some promise.

Penning seems too slow to play LT and maybe even RT. I think his future is at guard. My guess is he’s a bad technician and we don’t have anyone who can train him to be better.

Between Davenport, Turner, and Penning, our first round picks are looking terrible since 2018. Olave looked good last year, but has been a disappointment this year. Ruiz has come around, but it was a rough first two years. Breese is looking really really good. But it’s been a lot of misses.

If it were strictly ability, I feel certain he'd at least be an extra TE in short yardage. He was a good run blocker last year

Iirc Erving plays primarily guard and hadn’t played meaningful snaps at T since playing with Winston in college. Before last week.

Also Pennings scouting report had him likely excelling at RT if he struggled with the speed at Left because of his power and strength. It’s not adding up.

Totally disagree. The offense around him was disappointing but he was quietly the only bright spot. Despite how terrible the overall offense was.

I believe Carr had a say in getting him off the field too.

I think penning is just kind of dumb and isn't picking stuff up quickly.

I wouldn’t go as far as to call him dumb, imo it’s mostly confidence at this point. That and likely total failure of the coaching staff also.

Coming out his biggest knock was his aggression and penchant to take penalties for extra play after the whistle. Nothing about ability or technique.

Maybe there is a medical issue not related to football.

I don’t understand why he’s not good enough to play backup guard… That makes zero sense

He's a good run blocker. His pass protection is .......lacking to put it mildly

Maybe he just sucks and he’s a bust. It happens fairly often especially for olineman picked in the first round.

The fact that we are on our 3rd string RT and Penning still can’t see the field tells you all you really need to know. I think this guy’s only chance is inside at guard. Cam Erving played a hell of a game when he came in though.
