This is a bit skewed, considering Carter only fell because he was responsible for the death of a teammate and most teams took him off of their board.

Correct me if I wrong, but Olave did not have injury concerns coming out of college. So him being on the shelf so much is just a bit of bad luck.

If you ignore signing Barkley, trading for Brown, drafting Hurts, etc, etc then I guess

Jalen Carter is so good, it would have been hard to not use him right

I don’t assume shite, in fact Loomis likely wouldn’t have drafted any of those guys and he likely would’ve drafted worse players or flat out busts.

It’s why he needs to go and if he can’t go we need to sell the team.

Davenport draft costing us all those 1’s then letting Hendrickson walk is a worse decision then Olave!

I tend to agree but this is also the organization that didn’t play Akiem Hicks in the right position and he was a damn beast.

You think Philly won the SB bc of Jalen Carter and Cooper Dejean? Lol.

Philly underperformed last year. Losing in the WC game. They got a new OC in Moore and new DC in Fangio. Oh and they got Saquon from their rival NY Giants. That might have helped just a little bit.

KC offensive line could not handle Philly pass rush. That was why Philly dominated the game. Hurts played his best game the whole year.

Olave trade needed to happen. Saints needed a number 2 to go along with a hopeful healthy MT. Hindsight is 50/50. If Loomis could look into a crystal ball, he probably would not have traded to get Olave. But at that point and the run on WRs he needed to make that trade.

Carter taking a big step to probably the best interior DL in the NFL and Dejean improving their leaky secondary from 2023 made huge differences.

Jalen Carter had just a bit to do with that.

While this thread is using hindsight bias, plenty of rational posters pointed out how bad the trade was in real time. I was one of them. The Penning stuff, too.

You don't need a crystal ball to understand the value of future 1sts for bad teams. Loomis thought we were a title contender who just needed a few pieces, wihch was the analytical flaw in many moves, including the draft trdes being discussed now.

Uhh did you not watch Carter collapse the pocket all night?

There arguably isn’t a better interior defensive player in the league. He’s a franchise cornerstone and one of the elite of the elite going forward.

That kind of reactionary bullshite is why shitty franchises are shitty.

Viewing it seperately

The Washington portion of the trade was fine.

The Philly trade was catastrophic.

You cannot give up future 1sts anymore. Not for a fricking project

I watched the entire Philly D collapse the Chiefs O Line.

Do you think Philly would be in the SB or had the postseason they had without Saquon?

Saquon and getting Moore and especially Fangio as OC and DC were the biggest contributors to the getting to the SB. Without them, Philly loses in the WC or Divisional. May not even have won the NFC East. Saints almost beat Philly if not for a huge TD by Saquon in the 4th quarter and another run to seal it.

This is why I don't believe in trading up unless it's a can't miss prospect at your only position of need. If you draft well enough, you can trade players for more draft picks this keeping your roster cheaper and younger. Not the other way around.
