I wouldn't be mad but if Burks was still there at 16 I'd take him instead, take either the OT or DT who was there at 19 and shore up whichever we didn't get with the second round pick

love it, but doubt Davis makes it past Baltimore

Baltimore always takes the big, strong, athletic defenders I want us to pick right before us, so this statement checks out.

Nah. Both Penning and Davis can project as long term starters. I get our fan base is sick of seeing us not take WRs but Davis can come in and start Day 1. Penning too. Davis is an athletic freak. He’s a 1 tech so he’d slide right next to Onyemata and despite what our fans think…we do need some help at DT. Outside of O we have a bunch of nobody’s.

There’s also, though only slightly, less of a chance that both of those guys turn out to be busts. I’m all for taking Jameson or Olave or Wilson or whoever but Davis and Penning would be home runs. They can also go back to back WR in Round 2 and 3. We need to get talent on the roster. There’s a lot of positions we can get that talent at and I’d be OK.

Just get talent.

They have Tuttle who they like but I agree that they will be looking for dt help.

Onyemata only signed a 3 yr deal.

Good thing is all of our ends can love inside on passing downs.

Crazy that onyemata already counts for 11 mil next yr and isn't even under contract

would rather someone like Skyy Moore or Jahan Dotson with our 2nd than Metchie though.

I like both of those receivers as well but john metchie is extremely polished. Plug and play.

I won't be disappointed if the saints grab metchie. Extremely smart and technical receiver.

They need an OT, WR and a S who can start immediately. Hurst is not a starting LT

Actually he is. He is solid enough. I do think they probably pick a tackle. Hurst can hold his own.

If they pick a tackle they need to move hurst inside.

Just check this out.

Has anyone noticed how the media is starting to mention edge rusher in the first? they keep saying Cam Jordan is getting older, Davenport is always injured, but they seem to forget we drafted Turner in the first last year.

Really don’t care for Olave. He reminds me of Devin smith from OSU for some reason. Just have a feeling he will be a bust

Having a pass rush is essential, so you can never have too many edge players. Somebody like Jermaine Johnson would be tempting. He can play standing up or with his hand in the dirt.

I guess, just think we have bigger needs with our two first round picks (LT & WR)

Davis and Penning would be home runs IMO. However, I’ve heard of them, so it’s almost a guarantee we don’t take them.

Or Emmanuel Sanders!

Did we forget about him? I know he’s not 100% he wants to play anymore—and that’s obviously HUGE—but if he decides to play I think he’d be a great get.

He didn’t have his best season, but he was arguably the 3rd or 4th WR option… here he’d almost certainly be the 2/3 at worst

He was competing for targets with:
Stefon Diggs
Cole Beasley
Jamison Crowder
Plus anoth guy or two probably on/near the level with Harris and Callaway..

I’m down with Sanders (probably quite a bit cheaper than Landry) BUT I really think we NEED to go after a starting-caliber Guard!

Ereck Flowers! Quinton Spain!

We CANNOT roll the dice on Peat being hurt as always, Ruiz continuing to SUCK, and hope Throckmorton suddenly makes a 10-point “madden rating” jump!
Not with uncertainty at OT and putting Jameis back under center following a torn ACL.

I really am very surprised we haven’t addressed starting caliber/at least VERY QUALITY depth on the OL/specifically interior yet!

Time will tell, but I see Russell Gage.

Gage was underrated coming out of LSU because of horrendous QB play and LSU’s lack of offensive prowess in general at that time, but he’s still just “a guy” that really wouldn’t upgrade our WR room very much if at all.

If we draft him, I’ll hope like he’ll to be wrong and have MANY chances to eat crow—which I HAPPILY Would do!

Just feel pretty confident that he has slightly above average physical traits for an NFL WR and that’s combined with a less than ideal build.

The hype on him is seemingly too much that he’d last to round 2, but I’d be comfortable selecting him there…. We’ve seen some shocking slides in the past after all. Some warranted (Manziel going 22nd when many were thinking potentially 1st overall and most thinking top 10 at worst), and some that every team in the league has rued (Aaron Rodgers going 24th).

Would be kind of surprised if Metchie went that low, but I have not been keeping up with any mocks.

IMO, the issue with Sanders is you are most likely looking for his replacement next year. Landry should be able to get you some consistency in the WR room for a few more years. But, I expect them to go into the draft planning to address WR there, and if they don't land one of their guys they'll address if after the draft

The problem with Metchie is he is coming off a serious injury. We need a receiver who can make an immediate impact. Maybe he can but I would have some concerns.
