To all the tank for Manning posters….

Y’all do realize that no Manning that I am aware of has never left school early to go pro? If he is like the rest of them he won’t be coming out until the 2027 draft.

And those manning’s stayed without even getting paid over 10 million to play for a year

2027 is better for our timeline now. Two seasons to figure out if Shough is the guy. Until Arch is on another team, I'm going to hold out hope.

I think the Saints brass looked at the 2026 QB crop with no Arch and decided there was no advantage to waiting. I'm an LSU fan and fully on the Nuss bus, but I'm also acutely aware that he's a 6'1" pocket passer who doesn't run and struggles to hit the deep ball. He might be the next Drew Brees, but if he was in this year's draft I probably would've preferred Tyler Shough.

....why?
Nuss is younger and has already proven more in a much better conference

Yup, and we know Nuss cant run.
Shough ran for over a hundred yards and two tds against Ole Miss coming off a broken collar bone, for Texas Tech in a surprise bowl win (versus Dart).
100 yards rushing for a QB on any sec team is impressive.

Dumb argument is dumb.
Just because his uncles didn’t leave means nothing in regards to Arch.
You could say “look at how many players went back to school for a fourth year and lost money”

With NIL, Manning will get paid about 5-10 million per year in college.
He wont lose money staying in college.

That’s pennies to what he would get as QB1 in the 2026 draft.
Y’all sure are wish casting hard for Arch to not be a Saint.

It’s ok, we will still be bad by then.

Everyone is creaming for Arch......but Arch has yet to be a full time starter. I'm not dogging on him, bust, for chrissake , let the guy really play a year before he gets anointed.
Also, all of the QBs in this draft had a minimum of 2 years starting before being picked.
Ward, Dart, Milroe, Shogh, Gabriel and Sanders all started for 2 years minimum and with the exception of Milroe and Shough all threw for better than 12 K yards

Saying Shough started for 2 years minimum is being very euphemistic

Not as euphemistic as Pbean trying to argue how great his running is, but it's close.

Who cares if he's younger? Nuss will be 24 in next years draft, Shough is 25.

Nussmeier is surrounded by NFL talent. Pat Mahomes was 5-7 in his last college season in a crap conference. Physical traits mean something.
I love Nuss and hope he's a first round pick next year, but it's not unreasonable to think a QB with better size, speed, and at least the same arm strength who didn't throw 12 INT in his "breakout" season might be a better NFL prospect.

Shough's career rushing stats by year:
Year: Yards (Attempts/Sacks)
2019: 11 (2/1)
2020: 271 (66/11)
2021: 14 (16/3)
2022: 269 (72/11)
2023: 149 (48/9)
2024: 19 (41/9)

Technically true but the family is very close and has shown they value education not to mention extra development. He hasn’t played an handful of snaps his uncles were multiple year staters. and as someone else mentioned he is making good money via NIL. I would bet on him not being in next year’s draft.

This is the ultimate non falsifiable claim. When a player goes back to school, he is not evaluated by the NFL teams. He doesn’t go to the Sr bowl or the combine or pro days or private workouts or interviews nor do teams watch his tape and fully evaluate him. Players projected to go high in drafts fall after they declare fall all the time, there’s a good example from this year

Everyone?

Nuss just turned 23 (so he'll just turn 24 before the draft and will be 24 as a rookie)
Sough will be 26 as a rookie. The 3rd oldest QB ever drafted in NFL history.

I love Nuss
I don't. I'm nowhere near a Nuss-stan.
But he's clearly a much better prospect than Shough
If Rattler had gone back for one more year at USCe, he'd have been a better prospect than Shough

As a 25-year old in his 6th year.

With an insane injury history.

quote:Impressive to run for 100 yards (surprised he had 25 carries!) but a lot of players put up incredible stats in meaningless bowl games. He only had 19 yards rushing all of last year. I assume the coaches put a stop to the running after his multiple broken bones.

People that want to tank for Manning don’t actually watch college football. This place is becoming flooded with people that just want to type their feelings and get reactions rather than actual football fans.

Mahomes last year at TT : 388-591-65.7-5052-41-10
The year before his first as a starter
364-573-63.5-4653-36-15
Physical traits matter, so does production

What year do you think it is? This is not the same league
