He's a great back up quarterback. He is not the answer.

Not me! I’m fixated on the Saints’ W/L record with him as QB1.

He has no weapons.

Olave is a WR3 that can peak as a WR2.

Rattler is doing a good job and I was one of the ones on the Shough train. Keep with Rattler!!

I don’t think Moore’s long term starting QB is on the roster yet.

Rattler is who he is. Not gonna lose you games. But can’t do anything to add to winning. His record shows it.

He completes short passes. Doesn’t turn ball over. Usually throws to first read.

He can’t score in red zone due to his inaccuracy in tight spaces and inability to make more than one read imo

Is it sad that I'm jealous that the 9ers got Mac Jones?

I'm sorry, some of you are blinded by something...Rattler isn't very good. He is wildly inaccurate...consistently throws short, doesn't lead on crossers, can't throw a back shoulder (or hasn't tried, maybe)....not to mention misses open receivers. The quick out to Olave that went incomplete (may have been a PI, but I digress), he had Juwan open further down the field. That's just the one I saw from TV. I'd bet there are more.

I'm just not in on him. There is nothing more that I'd love but to be wrong and he be a franchise cornerstone at QB for 15 more years.

This is a developing story

The knock has been the short passes, as seen by the 5.2 Y/A (67.6 comp%) over the first four games. However, he’s been at 8 Y/A (72.3 comp%) over the last two weeks, his best two games imo. They have obviously opened up the offense a bit as there been more shots downfield. Soemthing to monitor

There’s been numerous misses on both sides now. We have been bad in the RZ since ‘21. We have not had any red zone threats in awhile. Even good players on bad teams score TDs across the league. We do not have good players

Looking at the standings right now we could be picking 4th or 5th and the teams ahead of us could already have their qbs.

He’s played five games with a real coach. Saying he isn’t the answer is stupid. Guy has the tools to be a good qb and he’s improving each week. Some of you are too fixated with the draft.

...and raw stats

I like him. My only knock is he’s got to improve in the red zone getting TD’s instead of FG’s. That’s an issue with most young QB’s though.

Play calling may have a wee bit to do it with it also

I’m tired as hell as reading this stupid arse phrase, but considering it’s in every damn thread, I have to at least ask how I’m supposed to read it:
I read it as “so” like “go” as in “Geaux” Tigers. But in that instance, “So” to replace Shough, pronounced “Shuck” wouldn’t make sense. What the frick are you trying to say?

Someone posted the qb ratings in a lot of different ways a few days ago. One was the bottom five qbs in red zone scoring. Four of the five were rookies and one was a second year qb.
Lesson?
It's hard to score as a qb in the nfl.
Even harder in the red zone.

A) Since when do we let the QB off of the hook because of a bad supporting cast? Do we now only expect an NFL QB making QB1 money to play well only when he has a perfect pocket and WR’s who never drop balls?

B) No. Not only would it be patently illegal to tank a season, I don’t see any wisdom whatsoever in taking so everyone can hang their hopes on an as of yet unnamed college player without a singe snap of NFL experience.

Come to think of it, though, I can’t think of a college QB draft prospect with a worse record as a starting QB as ol’ Rattler…

This team needs skill guys. Guys that can rush the passer. What im not worried about is the QB position.

In all of our lifetimes (most of us) this is one of the least talented Saints rosters ever and that’s saying a lot. I don’t recall in my life, going into a season with the worst odds in the league to go to the SB. So per Vegas, worst team in my lifetime.

As such, besides Brees, what QB in your lives is ahead of where Rattler is right now with this abysmal roster.

Hebert? maybe.
Brooks? I don’t think so, but could be argued. He had way better talent around him than Rattler as did Hebert of course.
Carr? I like Rattler better.

I think we got ourselves a future top 15 QB at worst. He’s made almost zero mental mistakes in 3 weeks, which bases on his experience level and how garbage this team is, it’s mind boggling amazing.

This is a mischaracterization of him not turning it over and that is a very low bar. How do you know he hasn't made mistakes? Define mistakes? I can argue that a bad pass is a mistake. I can argue that throwing to an underneath route when there is an open one deeper on 3rd down is a mistake. Do I know for sure he is doing these things, well, yeah, we do. And a top 15 QB will not consistently get you in to the playoffs. Again, a low bar. Why can't we expect better QB play, as well as, Oline, WR, DB play?

ETA: Clarification of my last statement. We expect Olave to catch a ball in his hands and we expect Sanker and Riley to not look completely lost in the secondary, and we expect Johnson to not fumble ....but we can't expect better from Ratt?
