Kept us off balance all night.

Bushrod finally played below average. Early game drops. Defense giving up big 3rd down plays when we needed a stop. Head scratching play calling at times.

Death by a 1,000 tiny cuts last night.

O Line played their worst game by far.

Don't forget holding Mike Thomas every play and diving helmet to helmet tackling Kamara every open field opportunity. That was key as well.

With the physicality Dallas was showing, I thought we might have tried to use Taysom a little more to utilize his strength.

The one RPO they played with Taysom,

The Defense Paused for a second and kamara gashed them for 7 yards.

I wondered why they pulled him after that play.

Saints receivers had trouble getting open.

Dallas was obviously juiced up to stop Brees. I doubt they prepared too much for our RPO's with Hill. A few more snaps with him might have offset their rush. Oh well, on to the next one.

Because they were getting mugged.

Somebody mentioned it in another post that the defensive backs coach for the Cowboys was on Seattles staff. Seattle did the same thing. They test early to see if the refs are going to call holding and pass interference and if they don't they just keep mugging you the whole rest of the game not allowing your wide receivers to get any separation.

It was obvious in the first half that they weren't going to call any penalties against the Cowboys defensive backs. There were multiple plays where they had the receiver wrapped up with both arms before the ball got there. Now if they were going to call it that way that's fine if they call it consistently both ways but what was ridiculous about the whole thing was they threw a ton of penalties against the Saints defensive backs for the same shite.

Then like clockwork they come out in the second half and the referee's call to holding or pass interference calls against the Dallas secondary. As if to send a message, "okay guys. We let y'all get away with it in the first half to keep the score close and keep ratings up. Now y'all are going to have to play them straight up." By then of course it was too late because the offense never established any rhythm but they certainly looked a lot better in the second half than the first half. And of course the shity calls kept coming like the Phantom pass interference against Lattimore, the missed obvious targeting calls and the knee down before the first down marker that they missed the spot on and converted a third down on a crucial drive. If they get just one of these calls right it changes the score and possibly the outcome of the game.

I think the Eagles game shows that Drew can handle tight coverage.

But our success this season has been 100% instigated by the OL dominating every opponent. Drew with as much time as he's had = cannot be stopped. Last night he was completely under fire. Which I find to be kind of weird. I did expect Lawrence to eat because he is a beast, but I didn't expect the interior guys to get whipped too. Considering they shut down Aaron Donald, it's definitely weird. Just an off night.

My hunch is Payton was pissed with Hill about the kickoffs.

This is what every team moving forward will do to the Saints offense and Brees. The Tampa game will show us a lot.

As I said last night, this is what every team has tried to do to Brees since 2007. The O laid an egg last night, teams after all these years didn't just "figure him out" all of a sudden last night.
