It could have been done can’t blame anyone but themselves. Trading into the 1st round for bust all the time, yet haven’t drafted a qb in the 1st since 1972? Like wtf are you doing??

WE had a horrible draft in 2023. The same people are running the personnel department

You’re dead fricking wrong on this. I said this four years ago and was down voted into oblivion. Hell, I said it just a few months ago and got a hell of a lot more down votes than up votes.

For four years Mickey Loomis has been restructuring contracts. In doing so, he basically sold away our future so that now we’ve been in salary cap fricking hell for four fricking years. Every time he does this, it puts us back another 2 to 3 years. Whenever I mention this on this site, I get excoriated by the Loomis sunshine pumpers.

We should’ve dumped Brees in hindsight. Happens to all the greats. Look at Manning, Favre, Brady. But we are a sentimental organization

Jameis Winston, Andy Dalton, Derek Carr. That was always 100% chance of failure. No hindsight here, I tried to warn the facepainters.

The Saints probably should have been moving in that direction before he left. Should have been looking for the next QB and slowly reducing the age of the roster.

The only way you dump Brees Is if we were able to draft Mahomes or Jackson which we easily could have. Otherwise you dont throw away Brees for mid talent

I agree. His arm became weaker and was no longer a deep ball threat. Reminds me of Peyton Manning's end. He couldn't make the deep throws either.

Yea we know but here we are.

It’s much more fun to look to the future than to live in the past.

NB4 there is not future for this team. Blah blah.

Brees' arm didn't decline like Peyton's, but you could see the end was near, so they should have had a plan in place and been making moves, including drafting his heir, even if it required moving up in the draft.

You also for months were telling everyone here that the saints should have tanked all year so they can select Nuss. So let’s take what you say with a large grain of salt

Sarcasm is sometimes hard for the smooth brained posters like yourself to pick up on.

Even still you do realize Nuss could’ve declared for the draft and it wouldn’t had surprised anyone to seen him drafted before Tyler Shough. Shough only declared for the draft because he was out of eligibility. AND then he caught momentum because of his measurables during the draft process.

You act like there’s no cause and affect to anything. Like because Shough was drafted 40 overall this year that must mean he’s better than Nuss right. Nuss is playing for a championship and a heisman and if everything goes well he will be looking at getting picked in the first round.

I also said the year before we should rank for Jayden Daniels. Plenty of smart guys on here told me how stupid I was and how Jayden would never develop as a passer, doesn’t have the IQ, etc. lots of smart guys like yourself on here

Telling everyone and making threads about tanking for a Nuss has no barring on the saints drafting Shough in the 2nd round. You raved about Nuss and believed the saints should have “tanked” for him. Now you want to say you were being sarcastic. Makes perfect sense.

“Tank for Trevor”
“Tank for Jayden”
“Tank for Nuss”

I’ve started all of these threads. They were all sarcastic to an extent. You’re missing the point. It’s not who we tank for it’s that we tank for someone good lol. And no I don’t want to purposely lose games I want to dump old bulbs and start fresh. Like we should’ve done 5 years ago.

But smooth brain retards like you get hung up on “ohh he said tank for Nuss. What a dumbass!” You’re missing the entire point. The point is we needed to draft a quarterback. And we kinda did sooo. Maybe next year we will finally get to draft a good one.

Most people would agree. They kicked the can down the road to try and win while Brees was here. Once he retired the rebuild should have started ASAP! but here we are 4 years later and the Saints refuse to believe the golden era is over. There is no reason we should still be this far over the cap 4 years after his retirement.

Ok let’s say I wasn’t being sarcastic. I’d take Trevor Lawerence, Jayden and Nuss over what we have

You got me!!
