Maybe you can coach up one guy is playing poorly, but this line is arse across the board.

This is by far the worst o-line I can remember the Saints having, and we invested in this line.

How are they this bad?

I feel that was more bad qb play rather than bad oline play.

Doug Marrone is a good coach, I have confidence he can elevate their play.

From a scheme perspective, we need to run outside more. We are good run blockers in space, less so playing bully ball up the gut.

Ultimately guys just need to win more reps, simple as that.

2 points

1 - one guy can ruin the whole line as everyone else is always out of position trying to help the weak guy, so the whole line becomes soft.

2 - coaching went into this season thinking we not only had a good o-line, but they thought they had a great o-line. when coaches are this dumb and out of touch, its a bigger problem than lack of a player or two to make you beter

I don't understand - moreso in the first two games - the a) insistance on long-developing plays and b) the lack of screens and draws to attempt to slow down a rush.

This the same oline the last 3 years outside penning. They weren't this bad before. To regress this bad is on the coach.

not accurate.

we've had so many different starting O-line lineups in 2021 and 2022. Guys kept getting hurt.

But this an awful sign that we've had our best 5 out there minus losing Ruiz today and we've looked this bad.

One of the problems with Dennis Allen- I dont think he understands that you need to analyze every position on offense too. The guy literally just focuses on defense.

Ram is old and not the same guy he was, penning is a work in progress, McCoy is just an ok center and the guard situation is still up in the air. Plus Carr isn’t as comfortable in the offense as Drew was. All these things have led to this shite show. We’re gonna lead the league in sacks given up.

The biggest concern for me is guys aren't getting free releases from things like bad communication or missed assignments. Those things can get cleaned up over time. They are just getting physically beat by getting thrown around or run past. It scares me to think it's a talent issue when, like you said, they've invested so much draft capital to the position.

Agreed. You kept peat and Ruiz. Both stink. Even ramchek doesn’t look good.

Thats a good point about Brees. He usually got rid of the ball pretty fast.

I do kind of agree that Carr holds the ball too long sometimes and that might have been what happened when he got hurt.

Basically when the play breaks down Carr freezes up. He isn't crafty moving around in the pocket like Brees was either.

I mean I think you're right Carr just doesn't look comfortable back there.

Ruiz, Mccoy, ram, Peat, and hurst were starting a good chunk of 2020 under Brees and through 2022. They weren't this bad. Outside penning we've seen this combination many times. They weren't this bad. I can see penning causing issues but they whole collective is playing like trash.

I don't understand it either. Ram had always been reliable. I thought Penning was going to just maul the hell out of everyone, but he still hasn't figure out his footwork for the passing game yet. Ruiz was getting there but concussions just take you out of the game no matter what. Peat should have been released years ago....
