Our state would rather spend money on glass sculptures in New Orleans and research the sleeping habits of lizards.
With that being said, I'm good as long as I leave deaf, drunk & without my voice and a Saints W to top it off

The one thing I wish they would have done was to take the roof off and put some sort of translucent roof in (or even a retractable roof if possible, engineering wise). Think the Vikings and Rams stadiums. As one poster noted, the lighting is horrible and you get a sort of claustrophobic feeling in the place.
I think a translucent roof would really brighten the place up and make the entire experience feel more modern.
It would have probably required the Saints to play in Tiger Stadium for a year, but the reward would be worth it.
As far as tearing it down and building another stadium in another location, that would be stupid. As stadiums go, it probably has the best location in all of the NFL. It's just too convenient to build a stadium anywhere else and it would be cost-prohibitive at this point to find another site with nearly the convenience factor.
Just my $.02.

Super dome is the best. Location second to none
No
NFL believes otherwise-
Super Dome has hosted more Super Bowls than any other venue.
Also, New Orleans is currently scheduled to host the 2025 Super Bowl and at that time no other city will have hosted the event more.

I've been to Jerry World and while it was nice and fancy, it didn't have the game day experience of a Saints game. Spend all that money and end up watching the big screen.
I've been to Atlanta's sphincter stadium and it wasn't anything special
Went to Texans and was the same thing
Something about the Dome has a certain mystique that can not be replicated with 2 billion dollar stadiums.

Apparently that was the exception to the rule.

Go to a game at metlife or better yet fricking fedex field and you’ll realize how nice the superdome situation really is.
I can back up the FedEx Field thing...it's pretty bad.

FedEx is the worst facility and fan experience in the NFL.
It should inform everyone how bad it can get if you move too far from the city. Putting a new Saints stadium in St. Tammany or St. Bernard would be monumentally stupid and would kill the franchise.

quote:See, to me that just continues to be the problem with people from LA, the city is your greatest treasure, the money maker of the state or region, and you want to put a new stadium somewhere else. Smh The issue to me is that the people of LA don't try and invest in the city, they'd rather cast stones at it from outside parishes. That city could be a goldmine the way it generates tourism, but it needs to be cleaned up of all of the bad leadership, crime, corruption and etc. I mean just looking at what happened down there over the weekend I guess with the thugs basically so-called taking over the city and all to perform doughnuts downtown while blocking off main street traffic is appalling. Dancing on top a police cruiser while the officer behind the wheel does absolutely nothing shows how pathetic the leadership of that city has become. New Orleans is a great city that just needs the right people in office and in the city to turn it around.
Maybe they could buy a piece of land in a field somewhere in St. Tammany parish and put it over there away from all the cluster frick in downtown NOLA.

Actually, the Dome is one of the few things that was done well. It has stood the test of time and is not a dump. Where is the state going to get the money to pay for a new stadium?

I agree with this; I know had read maybe a few years ago that this was being possibly studied for future improvement. Just think would be cost prohibitive but who knows maybe some geniuses will find a way to.

Whats the murder rate in Tuscaloosa compared to NOLA?

I think I read somewhere that it’s physically impossible bc of how it was constructed & that it would screw with the structural integrity. I do remember that one rendering years ago showed some sort of windows created in the corners to let light in, but that obviously that didn’t happen.
