The Saints played for long haul with selection of tyson

I liken the Tyson selection to the Lions taking Jameson Williams in 2022. The Lions took Williams with the 12th selection knowing he wouldn't contribute his first year but deemed him a long term investment to a dynamic offense. Moore looks at Tyson as the best WR in the draft for his offense going forward. Does anyone now think Williams was a bad pick. The best judge of Tyson is in 4 years.
I figured this would get mostly downvotes as most people don't have the capacity or want to see beyond the immediate. But that's ok, the people in power do.

And Jameson is still just above average and the Lions 100% would pick differently if they had to do it all over again. Not sure you made the point you wanted to make.

He’s a starting WR (top 30 easily) with top 1% speed. He’s underutilized IMO.

perhaps it is a bad take but my point still holds. People are not willing or able to look beyond the immediate.

Williams has been okay.
I don't think anybody has ever denied Tyson's talent.
it is pretty f****** discouraging that he's already hurt and they haven't even played the first preseason game yet well it is today but you know what I'm saying

Yes I DO understand what you're saying. I too was looking forward to seeing Tyson today and this season but the injury doesn't totally discount the pick though it is dampened a bit. The fact is , unless we truly expected the Saints to make a real run for the Super Bowl, it can still be a good pick and that's what I'm holding out for.

I don’t believe the expectation is/was for him to miss the entire first year, but the truth of the matter is that he was still nursing his injury when we drafted him. So the possibility of missed time to begin the season was there all along.
In my opinion it is why we triple dipped at wide receivers in the draft, to hedge our bet. Brown in the 6th and Lance in the 4th and both are also looking really good.
I loved the pick then, and still do now. His success, as you mentioned, will be determined over the long haul.
Here’s my opinion. I believe. I believe he will contribute this year. I also believe we struck gold with all 3 of the receivers picked.

Literally every gm would be fired for using a top 8 pick thinking "yeah we dont need him to contribute year 1"
This isnt about contributing. This is about simply being able to stay on the field, something he has not been able to do for the last 3 years.

There's real concern with this dudes injuries. Nothing has changed that concern, unfortunately those concerns got worse this week

Can someone donate their hamstring to him in a transplant? Can they maybe grow him a new hamstring from some spliced stem cells. This situation needs some creative solutions.
