I don't see him dropping to #9, but who knows?

The New Orleans Saints have the No. 9 pick in the upcoming National Football League Draft and the team surely is looking all over for the perfect fit.
New Orleans hasn’t moved in silence by any means. There have been plenty of reports about who the team has met with so far. Another big-name prospect visited the Saints on Friday. Michigan 21-year-old star Mason Graham reportedly visited the Saints on Friday, as shared by NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill.
"Michigan DT Mason Graham is visiting the Saints today, according to sources," Underhill said. "He's projected to be a top-10 pick and is one of the best defensive linemen in this draft."
Graham currently is ranked as the No. 3 prospect in this draft class by ESPN.
"Graham is an outstanding run defender who led Michigan's defensive linemen with 45 tackles in 2024," ESPN's Steve Muench said. "He stacks blockers, locates the ball and disengages in time to make plays. He slips blocks and gets into gaps. Graham is stout for his size, fights to hold his ground when getting double-teamed and doesn't split the blockers.
"He shoots his hands, drives blockers back and gets off blocks late. He wins with power rushing off the edge. He's effective picking defenders and looping around running line stunts. Graham reads the quarterback well and gets his hands up in passing lanes."

Are we definitely switching to a 3-4? I guess I don't fully understand the d line

Imagine Godchaux and Graham side by side. Can’t deny our run D wouldn’t be good. Or if nothing else, them rotating in and out spelling each other
“Can’t deny our run D wouldn’t be good” Am I saying that correctly?

I think it's just going to be a multiple look defense and not like maybe your traditional 3-4
I don't know if anybody has said like what the actual base defense would be

Please God no. I have no idea why yall are so high on him. I saw more bad than good on the tape.

So the idea of adding Graham at DT when Bresee already looks legit isn't a redundancy? We have so many areas to address (CB, WR, G, QB, S, LB)

Pressure from the middle of a D line is the holy grail in today's nfl. It screws the plan of the offense. Whether Mahomes or others.

IF we are indeed switching to a 3-4...
A front 3 of Bresee, Godchaux, and Granderson/Jordan is not bad. I think Granderson would probably be an OLB in a 3-4... we will have to see.
A LB corps of Werner, Davis, Orji?, Granderson could use some upgrading.
I think taking Graham to be the other DE opposite Bresee would be a nice upgrade if we think he can play there (way too small to be a 3-4 DT at 296). I think drafting a guy like Jalon Walker or Jihaad Campbell is more of a need though as those LBs aren't gonna scare anyone.
But to be honest...we need EVERYTHING. There is not one position on this team that we should be comfortably happy with. We need QB, RB depth, WR, TE, Tackle depth, Guard, DL, LB, Edge Rusher, CB, Safety, Punter

One good DT ain’t enough. Philly is the model.
Get multiple elite dlineman and dominate

Precisely. A guy like Donald or Jones might play 90%+ of snaps, but most guys usually don't.
A constant rotation of guy who can stop the run and push the inside would do amazing things for a defense void of back end talent.

There's not much you do understand..

You can’t look at it as simply slotting people in to positions though. An elite d line is probably the second most valuable thing behind a franchise qb.

Staley signed Joseph-Day to be his NT and he plays 305-310
Staley runs a 1.5 gap scheme, not a 2-gap scheme requiring a big 330+ lb NT

If you can improve O or D-line, you do it
Posted on 4/6/25 at 11:32 pm to SirWinston
Bresee is at the bottom of the league in run defense. Literally at the bottom. He’s a good pass rusher tho for sure.

Amen to your last point.

So from this thread I now feel like Graham slipping to us at 9 would almost be best case scenario
Posted on 4/7/25 at 7:19 am to SirWinston
Graham is one of those bpa available scenarios you just make work. Yeah him and BB play the 3 tech. We have no depth on the dline. Graham is also nasty in run defense and on passing downs you’ll see Graham and BB on the field at the same time. Running downs you’ll probably see BB come off or in short yardage scenarios he moves to the 5. If Graham is there you run to the podium.

As someone who consumes almost as much Jags content as saints ,if I had to bet my house I’d say that the jags take either Graham or Campbell unless Carter somehow fell. I’d hope the other one of those two fell to us.
