This is THE MISSING LINK to the Super Bowl for Carolina.

Woe to the Saints!!!!!! I'm now terrified.

Much as we like to mock him, Carl has had a long and successful (in some places) NFL career.

I still don’t want that bozo looking mfer anywhere near this team again though.

I had no idea he was still alive much less actually getting another NFL job. I was hoping to never hear that name ever again.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but for me this is hard to believe after his time in New Orleans.

Saints offense ranking under Smith: (pts/yds)
1986 - 19/21
1987 - 2/14
1988 - 18/16
1989 - 6/11
1990 - 22/22
1991 - 8/15
1992 - 10/14
1993 - 11/21
1994 - 9/19
1995 - 20/19
1996 - 29/29

Actually surprised at the scoring offensive ranks during CS’s tenure as OC. Very inconsistent though. 1991-1994 was actually a decent run.

Whatever the rankings, it never felt like we were upper tier on offense.

When he was with the Saints we called him "poodle head".

Either that character scarred you for life, or you have an amazing memory (at least for movies ).

Great pull

Go re-watch those games on YT. Bobby Hebert was an incredibly accurate passer for his era and didn't make a lot of mistakes. But his talent was wasted here. The gameplan was dull and they had neither the runners nor the receivers to make anything happen. Mora and Finks and Company did not know how to evaluate and draft skill position players. The offense looked lethargic at all times

Bobby was a much better QB than say Jim Everett, whom we saw both as an opponent and later a Saint. But, in LA, he had Ellard and Anderson to throw to and that made a huge difference.

Carl Smith was a big reason for this lack of production.

Carl Smith was a scapegoat because nobody wanted to admit that Bobby was a middling qb and Jim Mora wanted to lean on defense and win 20-17.
