I wonder if S.F.,Carolina,Buffalo,or Detroit would take 3 "ugly" wins right now?

Considering the amount of injuries 4 weeks into the season, I'd say the Saints are doing well to hold it together. As I said before, who imagined during the preseason that our RB trio would be Ivory, Betts & Wynn?

The 2009 Saints WERE dominant beating opponents by an average of 10 points. The sky isn't falling but the Saints are no where near being the well oiled machine we saw last season.

Glad to see the resonating feedback. I thought of another great NFL example...

Would you rather be the 2007 Patriots who went 18-1 and lost one final game or the 2007 WC Giants? The NFL is all about just getting into the dance and be clicking. That '07 NYG team started 0-2 and finished 4-4. How many times last year did you hear it repeated that no team has ever won a championship after losing their last 3 games?

I drink the kool-aid but I ain't drunk on it. Questions? Sure. Concerns? Yup. But I have an enthusiasm about this whole franchise that only came close in the Mora years. Those were full of potential that never quite was fulfilled (damned 49ers glory years in the same division). There are franchises that capitalize on when they understand it is "our time". Think 70's Steelers, those 49ers, 90's boys, the Pats. Let's get to another post season whether wildcard or top seed and see where the dance leads.

I don't think ya read the first post. You can paint all kinds of pictures statistically. Examine and count how many '09 wins were dominant. For me, I only call 3 dominant regardless of score. Plenty were good but entailed plenty of struggle against some very poor teams. A majority were not decided until into the 4th quarter.

Precisely. People forget how different the landscape is from week to week in the NFL. I'd rather be healthy and humming on all cylinders during the back half of the season.

I read it, but I replied to someone else because I wasn't responding to you, I was responding to the person that was trying to say not being dominant is ok. It might be ok but there is a difference between this year and last year and just like there's no sense in overreacting to it, there's also no sense in sugar coating it.

A 4th quarter that we typically DOMINATED by outscoring opponents by eleventy billion to 10 or whatever that well worn stat was.

Yes, there were some strong 4th quarter comebacks but even with that my point is that there were more games that were struggles than dominance throughout.

For '09 4th quarters I looked and found 6 games (38% of season)where the Saints were outscored 36-24 by teams with a combined record of 23-57.

There are questions and concerns certainly to be answered. If you want to comepare questions though look at the last 5 games of '09- A fluke win in Washington, a scraping get by win against a Redman QBed team, and 3 losses. This is a new season with fresh challenges though.

If it weren't for an immature kicker the Saints would be 4-0. There's plenty to be happy about but seeing so many mistakes, like untimely fumbles and drops, is very concerning. Champions typically have the ball bounce their way not away from them.

Why? You are taking what I've said entirely the wrong way if you think I'm saying the team is bad, they just aren't playing well and yes injuries are a part of that.

Amazing post. People also have to keep in mind that Atlanta beat the 49ers by the skin of their balls, the packers struggled with the lions, and the colts lost again and are 0-2 in their division. I can't stand when people think that a "bad" team in the NFL can't compete also. All of these guys are pros
