Good.
I was worried if we grabbed him in the third and then couldn't afford to pay three first round contracts, awful I know
Posted on 4/30/15 at 7:01 pm to el duderino III
i would think not. Just totaly unlucky circumstance causing teams to draft him later

Summary of what I have been told (let's see how it turns out):
1. Saints goal is to draft 7 players
2. Saints are close to an agreement in principle to trade up w the Bears if Beasley is there (not giving up 31 unless swapped w 39)
3. Working on trading down from 31
4. Lael Collins will be drafted & by the Saints if he is not taken= trying to clarify when now
Solid info

From Gil Brandt after Round One:

AND ONE MORE WILD-CARD:
La'el Collins, OT, LSU
Vitals: 6-4 1/2, 305 pounds, 5.10 40.
If not for the off-the-field situation facing Collins this week, he would have been a top-12 pick. This is where you have your investigative team do what it can to find out as much as it can about what happened. If you're a team with two second-round picks, and you can approach one as sort of a "bonus" pick, Collins is too good a player to leave laying around. He can come in and start at guard or tackle in the NFL.

hahahahaha. our "inside scooper" swung for the fences and hit wind. the funny thing is that he probably does have a friend that works for the organization feeding him info, but that friend is completely screwing with him

He could've been getting solid info but the draft doesn't take a straight path. The shakeup probably started with Washington taking Sherff, which led to Williams being available to Jets and White for the Bears, Beasley for Atlanta...and now no one wants to trade down unless you mortgage the farm.

Word I am hearing is the Saints will take him at 31. They have spoken with police & are not concerned.
Good call.

If he doesn't get drafted at all, does it change anyone's opinion on whether or not he was involved in the murder?

What happens if Collins gets drafted in the third or later, but is cleared of all wrongdoing before he signs? Could he demand first round money?

That was Wednesday - yesterday they felt confident he would still be there later. Now the question is do they take him at 75 or 78?

I think they take him with the second 3rd rounder considering we won't pick again until the 5th. How do you pass up an instant starter at LG that low? Obviously the investigation weighs...but I just can't see something tangible coming out of that.

Guys, I apologize. I still think they tried to get Beasley (because Atlanta did take him) another part of what I was told. The Bears raised the price when White was still available. 1st draft of my life that I had inside info & it proved to be wrong. Not sure why honestly.

Dude, we do baseball here. Your 3 strikes are up, now its time to go sit in the dugout and watch the big boys take some swings.

very few inside the saints organization know the real plan and intentions. is your friend's name Jeff? other than that, i doubt he's high enough to know and be texting about it during the damn draft to you like you claimed.

Very fair - but there are no big boys here.

<----- this guy is yoked up to like 190+

I will point out (not my source) but my opinion was Anthony at 31 & that did happen.

I've been beating off on Anthony for 45 days. I also said we would draft an offensive tackle. That did happen. I laughed at your 31 La'el prediction. That did not happen. Your trade when you said was done did not happen.

Very good call on saying we would draft a tackle - did not see it coming. I did not say that would take Collins at 31 yesterday - the whole world knows he slipped.

collins gets drafted no worse than 2nd round
The reason I think that's an ignorant statement is that what would make a second round pick ok but not a 1st?
Now a later round, sure. But if the situation is too scary for a 1st, then it should be for a second as well. It's not like 2nds aren't important to the team.
Personally, if I were 100% innocent, I would basically keep the suspicion up so I would go undrafted, then when 100% cleared, I would create an udfa bidding war for the best left tackle that was to be taken in the 1st!
Screw going to some team in the 4th.
I'd rather pick my team at that point.
