As a Saints fan who went to the 1st game in 67,Iv`e seen
many draft picks that didn`t develope in their early
career. There was an OLman a number of years ago ,I don`t
remember his name, who all the fans were saying was a bust
but ended up being a damn good player after his 3rd year.
Fans give up on players much to early. This is the NFL
not college or highschool. The adjustment period for some
takes time and the scouting dept. obviously saw that Ruiz
has the size and footwork they were looking for.I may be
wrong but it`s too early to judge.

would have changed thus team a lot and made that draft a home run.
This is the only site in the world where Queen is regarded as a good player. He’s been below average to bad.

It's premature ejaculation to label anyone from draft '20 a bust. Especially under the 2020/2021 seasons.
Reach? maybe that's a better argument but lets see how their sophomore years go then revisit this topic next year at this time.
and fwiw IMO anyone outside of the 1st of 2 rounds should be eligible for the title of bust. Tommy Stevens wasn't a bust, he was a wasted pick.

You are probably thinking of Jon stinchcomb. High 2nd round pick. He was unplayable his first few years in the league, everyone thought he was a bust, ended up having a very solid career with saints.
I think Ruiz is a solid player or will be but it appears center is his best position. I also liked Baun when we drafted him, but as I said in the draft threads at the time, I think he’s a 3-4 linebacker and doesn’t fit our defense.

Your right about Marrone. So glad to him back and Saints fans will too.
I think it's going to be the best move of the off season. Also nice to have him helping in the draft.

They are playing Baun out of position. He should be used like Hendrickson was, but from a 2pt stance.

Trautman - he needs to have a 10,000 catches summer. He seems to be better at blocking than catching right now.
I think Baun is serviceable.
Stevens - whatever, it was a flyer
Ruiz - so... sometimes it takes lineman 3-4 years to figure it out in the NFL. He was brought in for pass pro and you can neve have too many centers... he's just struggled playing not center. I'd be willing to move McCoy over and see if that works better.

Im not writing off Ruiz. He has struggled but he also had a lot of weird circumstances. He’s had to move positions a lot. He also came in during covid year. For me this is the year we will be able to mark him as a success or bust. He hasn’t been what you wanted to see but he’s still pretty young.

Exactly. Baun is a bust (you can quote me on this) at trying to play 4-3 OLB, but that doesn't mean he can't do other things. He's a damn good special teams player & I think he has potential as a pass rushing specialist...just how we used Hendrickson. The only difference is we can't guess as much with Baun, b/c he's tiny compared to Hendrickson. We have to be DAMN SURE that the other team is passing, b/c he has no chance to stop the run with an O-Lineman across from him. Maybe not even a blocking TE as well.
Ruiz was looking very good at RG in the preseason, then we switched him over to OC after McCoy got injured. It seemed to negate all of his progress at RG after they switched him back. That's the glass half full view of Ruiz.
I like Trautman more than most. He was very good his rookie year, & looked like he was coming on in the 2nd half of last year...only to get injured. Like I said earlier in this thread...I don't think it would be wise to write Trautman off just yet.
Lastly, who really gives a rat's arse about Tommy Stevens. That's a missed 7th rounder.
