Didn't Oakland make a killing when they traded Gruden to Tampa Bay? I'd settle for 3 1st rounders and some cash.

And they have been dogshit ever since. Helped them 0%.

A great or even good coach is worth a lot. There's very little I'd be interested in to be honest, unless he really wants to leave.

Not enough. You'll need more than that to stay out of the gutter. Maybe 2 1sts and I'd consider it.

Just think of that year CSP was gone and you had his players and support staff. I'd reason to believe it would feel a lot like that. 2 first rounders might make it a little more palatable.

Yes, because the Raiders became a superpower after landing that sweet deal

And that's exactly what will happen to the Saints, correct? Payton will move on after his contract is up. Why not get something for him?

We're rebuilding. He did the impossible and won a SB in New Orleans. What are you, 12?

I posted this in a similar thread last time this came up.

The Gruden Trade

1st and 2nd round draft picks in 2002, a 1st round pick in 2003 and a 2nd round pick in 2004, plus cash.

The Belichick Trade

The Patriots sent a 1st round draft pick in the upcoming 2000 draft and fourth and seventh rounders in 2001 to the Jets for the rights to Belichick.

The Parcells Trade

The Jets sent four draft picks, a first rounder, 2nd rounder, 3rd rounder, and a 4th rounder to the Patriots in exchange for the rights to Parcells.

The return on the trades paled in comparison to what the other teams received with the exception of the Parcells trade.

5 Super Bowl Wins combined resulted from the first 2 trades and 1 HOF Coach. The last trade was for an established HOF Coach.

In short if any team wants to pry Sean away while the franchise retains his rights...it would have to be for more than just a pair of 1sts. The stability provided by a trade like this or even the immediate returns would justify the move for the other franchise...but to wind up like the Jets or Raiders who are still stumbling in the darkness it would be a move that would be 2nd guessed every day for the next 20 years...unless you yourself pull a rabbit out of the hat like the Pats magically did.
