Taysom is trying to make plays while Teddy is just trying not to mess up

Watching them the last few weeks Teddy is petrified to pull the trigger, the mormon missile is not

Teddy was never all that good. Ever understood his Vikings hype. He was a fifth alternate pro bowler. Neat

Problem is you need teddy or another back up or taysom can't be on the field as much.

Exactly. You can’t do all the things you want to do with Hill in the offense if you make him your backup qb. He would be too valuable then, and you couldn’t take the risk

TH seemed to handle the D pressure a bit better, I’d be curious how many times the Jets blitzed Williams love to bring the heat with packages.

Deceiving title, because Teddy is playing against 1st teamers and Hill is playing against backups trying to make the team. I like both QB's, but Taysom Hill is not a backup QB just yet. Teddy has experience and Taysom is still learning.

This reasoning is flawed. Teddy is playing so inconsistent against the level of competition he has to play against. Now sometimes he doesn’t get much help from his receivers or line, but the times he does have that help, he makes mental errors or holds onto the ball too long.

Taysom is a playmaker. He has the “it” factor. Now I don’t know if he’ll ever get a chance to play QB in the league as a starter, but he gives the Saints the best chance to score when on the field of the two.

When Teddy struggles we say he’s playing with the backups. When Taysom excels, we say he’s playing against the backups.

Right. That's what I've been saying. Just seems that one of them has "it" and the other can't seem to find "it".

Truth is, as long as Brees is healthy TB is the backup and TH is the gadget player. If the unthinkable happens, TH will be the starter and TB remains the back up. Nothing wrong with being the back up to the back up.

I get it: take a chance on a former 1st rounder coming off injury and give him 1-2 years in the offense and see what you've got.

If he excels, then you can plug and play him once Drew leaves (assuming he does after this season); if not, it was a worthwhile gamble that didn't pay off and didn't break the bank.

They have different roles, and far different ceilings for their careers.

Best analogy is- pretend this is baseball. Hill is a fantastic closer who can come out and throw 100 mph with a nasty slider, for 1-2 innings. Bridgewater is the solid innings chewer, that can give you 6-7 innings. Brees, of course, is the ace of the staff that can give you complete games almost on demand.

If you lose your ace, you don't move your closer into the starting rotation.

Teddy is a legit contender to be number 2 on most programs. Taysom is not, for now. Teddy has more to lose for his mistakes.

I dont particular care for Teddy as an athlete, but this should not be a metric we determine his fate upon.

While I basically agree with the title, Taysom offers so much more with his versatility. If he is the designated #2, he holds a clipboard the whole game.
Teddy just looks like he is uptight & cannot get in a rhythm, while Taysom seems to just hit the field & is having fun.

I would trade Teddy for a draft pick at this point
If Etling gets cut (doubtful now as he's better than any other QB on the Falcons roster outside of Ryan), bring him on as the backup that way Hill can keep his role on ST and offense without worrying about getting injured

great idea.. lets trade our #2 QB a week before the season and bring in another player who knows EXACTLY 0% of our playbook

If Brees gets hurt and misses the season, the season's in the toilet anyway.

If Brees gets hurt and misses 4 games, I believe Bridgewater + Taysom in his usual packages, can tread water thru that

Wrong sport bud. This season looks like TH is head and shoulders above last as a QB.
