a rookie into a starting QB knowing Brees was near retirement.

I am convinced that Hill will be mediocre at best and will only win with our loaded defense and the ground game doing great.

We were barely winning with Jameis Winston. Not even MT coming back is going to save this offense.

Listen to me and reread this three times please. Taysom Hill has been in the NFL for a decade and has never won a starting job. He’s not the answer nor is he a starting qb. Please stop with the Taysom talk for the love of god.

You can't predict the starting QB tearing their ACL

Everyone is hating on Taysom but our redzone offense has been awful since he’s been out.

This formula has won championships in this league for decades.

Hill just needs to protect the ball and manage the game.

Wait? Are you talking about Winston or Hill? Because that's how the Saints were winning WITH Winston at QB. Over the course of 6 games only the rookie QBs in New York (Jets) Chicago and Jacksonville were putting up worse numbers.

The Saints offense wasn't exactly explosive with Winston. That's not to say his loss isn't significant. But it seems apparent that formula is how the Saints plan to win REGARDLESS of who is at QB. No one is expecting Hill or Semien to put up prime Brees numbers. The good news is that they appear to only have to put up 2021 Winston numbers which, frankly, weren't that great.

I don't agree at all with your use of the term "worse".

HIs QBR is much better than worse. His win% is much better than worse. His teams standing in the Div is much better than worse.

Sure...take your pick. A winning record while throwing for 200yrds and 1TD pg or throwing for 500 yards pg 3tds 2ints and a losing record.

Which is worse?

BUT you have to get to the redzone first. Whats your plan for that slick?

His stats weren't good relative to most of the league. I think that is objectively true. That said, much of that was by design as Payton clearly chose to be more conservative in the passing game for several reasons: Limit turnovers; weak WR corps; good defense.

The OP's premise was that Hill sucks and the Saints would only be able to win with him with a good running game and great defense. My response was that is how the Saints were winning WITH Winston. If the "handcuffs" were taken off of all three QBs on the roster: Winston, Hill, Simien, is Winston the most talented as a passer? No question. But that's not what the Saints were doing. The offense was pretty conservative. Of course it sucks to lose your starting QB. But if you look at it rationally it is not as if the Saints just lost prime Drew Brees in the midst of a record setting season. They lost a guy they were asking to be somewhat of a game manager and now have to turn to someone else who they are going to ask to do the same thing.
