Lowest rated Superbowl since Steelers/Cardinals

quote:

CBS drew a 44.9 overnight rating for Patriots-Rams last night, which was lowest-scoring Super Bowl yet. That figure is lowest for Super Bowl since Steelers-Cards drew 42.1 in 2009. Boston market got 57.4 (best for game since 2015). L.A. market 44.6 (best SB in L.A. since 1996)

New Orleans had the lowest rated market and their lowest number of all time.

#NOLA has spoken. Super Bowl LIII earned a 26.1 rating in New Orleans, the lowest of of any market and the lowest ever in New Orleans.

Nice work everyone.

But I was told that the boycott didn’t matter and the NFL doesn’t care if we watched the game or not.

Time for the owners to dump Goodell, he has mishandled their business for years, now he's costing them serious bucks.

Especially considering New Orleans is always tops. That city usually tunes into the Super Bowl.

Hell naw! That still means 1 in 4 TV’s in New Orleans had the game on.

Traitors!

Seriously though, that’s a pretty dramatic decrease from the rest of the country. Pretty good job Who Dat Nation.

i must say, i feel pretty good today. The rams got bitched around, scored 3 points , superbowl ratings were low as ever, people touted this as one of the most boring SB games of all time.

Moral victories guys

I can see people watching just to see the Rams get justice... hopefully they turned every other tv on to something different.

Wow. And L.A. was lower than the National average with their team actually in the darn thing. That's hilarious.

The owners basically pay Goodell to be a punching bag on a lot of the things they’re doing.

That being said he’s terrible at PR

why couldn't we trade Anthony Davis to the Lakers for the Rams Super Bowl spot

both cities would've gotten what they both really want

That seems to be a common defense for his consistent incompetence.

He gets paid for all the money they are making, particularly on TV deals. Yet any of us could negotiate those huge deals without being a jerk or idiot handling the rest of the league's business.

Goodell is garbage, and the league's owners are fools for employing him.

This alone may be a victory for the NFL. The whole point of the fix was to get the LA market into the game again. A 20 year high for that market is probably all Goodell needs to see to consider it a success.

Maybe my reading comprehesion skills are suffering this morning but wouldn't a 44.9 rating be HIGHER than a 42.1 rating, making the Cards-Steelers game worse from a rating standpoint? Am i missing something here? I'm still happy about the outcome of this superbowl but i'm confused at the tweet.

The score was 13-3.

That’s the lowest scoring Super Bowl ever.
