Wish I had the power or pull to get Winston removed now, when Saints fail in games so does the community and fans. Make a change now, trade him for another teams backup. There are plenty of good ones. Cincy’s backup would do nicely.

But he’s better than the Billy Joes so we should be happy with what we have.

Maybe so, coaching staff has to hold their players accountable.

So he caused the kamara fumble?
He missed the blocks and two field goals?

Great QB’s elevate their teammates play, poor QB play does the opposite. Surely you are aware of this well known hypothesis?

Can I get a link to the study or sometype of research into this well known hypothesis?

Crazy thing is people believing a backup QB is the solution.

It could be.

I know one thing that isn’t working.

Indeed.

I love browsing this forum early in the morning as I sit in my backyard sipping coffee. The pro-Jameis posts by abject morons on Saints Talk rant about Jameis's upside, how they believe he still has potential, how they think he can get better and it just brings so much joy to me that there is so much naivete in the world.

Jameis Winston is in his 8th year in the league. He is who he is. There isn't upside. The pieces aren't going to magically fall into place and he's not going to become a player that he has never even shown glimpses of. He's a turnover machine who loses more games than he wins. He gives a few games away every year with terrible decision-making and inaccurate throws. He doesn't progress in his reads quickly. He's a walking meme at the most important position on the team.

Who is it who decides which QB is starting?

Never is a long time. If he is the backup on a playoff team, will that count

Jameis is the least of your problems in the last 2 weeks and in particular against the Panthers.

Kamara, Ingram and Olave's fumbles, Bad play by Hurst and Peat on the O line. Ramczyk has not been playing all that good either. Some really bad calls by the refs did not help. Bad tackling on the TD by Carolina.

This is a wasted year. The long term solution isn’t here at qb. This fool eats the w’s and leaves us with l’s.

So If Andy Dalton is a game manager, what difference would he have made? Would he have elevated his teammates?

Also how do you elevate your teammates, when your highly paid running back and reciever, get upset and run into the tent?

I'm not a Jameis fan but the dude humbled himself, took a spot on the bench and tried to correct his play.
Don't y'all find it funny that he had a better record with Thomas out last year? Maybe Thomas is the problem

If Ingram doesn't fumble, we are talking about how Jameis found a way to beat Tampa. If Kamara doesn't fumble, we are talking about how Jameis did just enough to beat Carolina.

Football is a fickle bitch.

The issue has been protection, which should lie at the feet of Carmichael, Jameis, and o-line. We need a fresh offensive staff and a new face under center next year. Hopefully we get some draft capital for Sean, otherwise we're entering a dark period

This may be a very true statement; however, there is still a lot of this to be done

blaming the coaches

I question if a Carmichael led offense will ever make the playoffs. The offense looked great when he allegedly ran it in 2012, but you still had Brees in the meetings and a major part of the game plan. I also question how much Sean stayed away. When Sean was in the booth after the surgery, Carmichael was on the sidelines running things, but it was still Sean & Drew's show. Allen is a defensive guy, so this all falls on PC; so far it looks like he can't handle it. When the back is against the wall and the team has to push the offense, the offense & Jameis move the ball. They make mistakes, but so far they are making more big positive plays.

I said in another thread, they need to make 1 of 3 choices right now and evaluate over the next 2 games.
1) Let Winston play at the pace of the final 1/2 of the 4th quarter. Get some excitement in the offense and see what happens. Still look like shite, or he's an absolute TO machine, move on to Dalton.
2) Move on to Dalton and let Winston get healthy. If Dalton gets the Offense moving, stick with him. If he's struggles like Winston, then bring back a healthy Winston and/or change the OC
3) Change the OC, play caller
