Brees and Payton are a match made in heaven, they just love to do dumb shite.
Brees forces a pass to Shockey in triple coverage and we are lucky it wasn't picked. Payton then dials up a play call to a running back underneath which would have ended the half if he caught it.

Maybe they ran that fake so Tomlin wouldn't ice the kicker. That's the only way the delay makes sense.
