Sounds like Mickey wants to run it back with Drew

Mike T:
Basically ending all the "Saints might move on" talk.
quote:
GM Mickey Loomis said the Saints want Drew Brees back as QB as long as he wants to keep playing -- “no different than it’s been the last few years,” even though he’s technically a free agent. “It’s easy to take him for granted yet I don’t take him for granted,” Loomis said.
quote:
On Brees' stellar play in December, Saints GM Mickey Loomis said "Look, if any of us are surprised at what he does, then we’re just not very smart.” When asked if he has even less questions about Brees than last year, Loomis said “I didn’t have any questions about him last year."
quote:
Saints GM Mickey Loomis on the financial challenges that will come with so many expensive players -- including the '17 draft class now eligible for extensions: “There’s challenges when you’re not successful, and there’s challenges when you are successful. I prefer the latter.”

I wish they would give Drew a one year deal and go ahead and pay Bridgewater. Realistically, there is no one who would fall to us in the draft and no one I would take over Bridgewater in FA.

Our fan base is historically dumb
We can easily ride the noodle to another championship. Look at Jimmy Gamemanagelo and the niners

Niners have superior coaching and talent.

Of course the Saints want to bring him back.

Sign Drew, trade him, Kamara, and 24th pick to Cincy for the first pick..... Am I doing it right?

Wish he could be steller when it counts in the playoffs.

I tend to agree if you're referring to

Of course Micky wants him back. If Brees doesn't return the Saints have a $20M+ hit in dead money, plus have to pay another QB. If Brees comes back for 1 year, some of that money can be kicked down to 2021. For 2 years, even less is kicked down to 2022....

Brees played fantastic this past year. It’s not like his performance has fallen off. He set the record for single-game completion percentage against the Colts.
Look at his numbers this year:
Brees: 74.3% completions, 2979 yards, 27 TDs and 4 Ints.
Tannehill in the same number of games had 70.3% completions, 2742 yards, 22 TDs and 6 Ints.
Jimmy G played 16 games and had a 69.1% completion percentage, 3978 yards, 27 TDs, and 13 Ints.
Deshaun Watson in 15 games had 67.3% completions, 3852 yards, 26 TDs and 12 Ints.
A-a-Ron Rodgers played 15 games, completed 62.0% of his passes for 4002 yards, 26 TDs, 4 Ints and was a total douche on top of it all.
This isn’t Madden where somebody is going to throw 89% completions for 5,500 yards, 45 TDs and 2 Int. Brees is still one of the best QBs in the game. And he’s consistently the best, not year to year.
I have no idea why our fan base is so dumb as to think he can be replaced so easily.

Sounds like Drew wants to retire.

I agree. I'd like to see Bridgewater start one season. He deserves it. He's probably learned a lot under Brees.

TLDR: we are kicking the can down the road again and when Drew decides he wants to retire we are going to be FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED.

That's the price for the success we've had. Grin and bear it. There will be a rebuilding period when Brees is gone.

What would expect ML to say. At this point his interview is totally meaningless.
