Brees was, at worst, the 3rd best QB in the NFL last season.

Brees has played poorly relatively speaking in the last 3 post-seasons as well.

His regular season performances are irrelevant if he can't get it done in the post-season.

Nah, the year of the Minnesota Miracle he was absolutely surgical in the playoffs. He was fine last year too.

The only way I can see our current offense not getting shutdown by an above average defense in the post season is if Payton stays true to the running game to back off the Rush, we should have been in the ballpark of 30 rush attempts in this past playoff game.

If you go back and look at highlights from the 09 years, Henderson and eventually Meachem could take the top off the defense, this element has not been there since Brees has aged. Our current offense is predicated on a short to medium passing game, getting extremely dangerous players into space for YAC(Kamara) and working Thomas around those 8 to 15 yard plays. Brees also has to stop the bone-headed interceptions at the worst times in the playoffs. Since 2017 in the post-season, Brees has 10TD's and 6INT's, he's also put one on the ground this past game. You cannot turn the ball over in the post-season.

The loss to the vikings, nobody wants to mention that the offense couldn't do jack-squat till almost the 4th qtr. The defense was getting gassed by the lack of drives, the vikings were 56% conversion rate on 3rd down. This is essentially the reason the Vikings just said frick it and chucked a long one in overtime, the defense, while playing well in the 4th just got tired, it was bound to happen(push off or not).

If the Saints want to sniff another superbowl, the running game needs to be a focus, teams in the post-season are NOT afraid of Brees and the Offense. The vikings started scrubs in that wildcard at defensive back and didn't bat an eye. The last Vikings team may have been the worst playoff team to hit the post-season in decades.

People remember the bad more than the good. That’s just the way it goes. The idea that Brees can be easily replaced is absurd.

If you're running it back with Brees, you do whatever you can to solidify Peat's spot, and you run Murray 18 times a game, give Kamara 12 and Taysom 5 or so. 30 carries should be the minimum with this team.

People talk about Drew's deep ball. That's fine. It would be nice if he's throwing over the top. But we desperately need someone like Ruggs in the draft who can take a slant or bubble screen 80 yards if a DBs angle is even slightly off. If you run the football and add a home run threat, this offense can win.

I can find you plenty of QB's that choke in the playoffs.

Brees is fine for a pay cut. And when we get into one of these games where the Dline is wrecking our oline you just gotta play Hill more. This happens 2-3 times a year the last 4-5 years. He isnt big/strong enough to create something when it breaks down

Which WR do we have that can do this? Ginn who drops them?

Anthony Harris and Harrison Smith ranked 1 and 2 in the NFL in coverage grades for safeties. Erik Kendricks was the #1 coverage LB in the league. Anthony Barr is a top 10 pick. Trae Waynes and Rhodes are 1st rd guys at CB tasked with shutting down bad WRs outside of Thomas

All of those guys especially look all world when:

Griffen and Hunter have 4 sacks and 8 pressures. Odingbo had a hit on Brees. That’s 40% of Brees’ attempts right there

I don’t see the OL mentioned in your post. Brees goes as they go. We’ve invested big money and draft capital across the OL and even into depth. All the stuff you want to happen starts with them. You want to run the ball? Well you have to be able to pass it. You want to pass it? Guys have to get open, the OL has to hold their block. It’s like you people didn’t even watch the game. We were outplayed and everyone sucked

This place is absurdly fickle. They'll be back on the Brees wagon after he has another good game. Just like they flip flopped on teddy.
