Pre-injury

Good in coverage( better than any LB on our roster), elite instincts in following the play. Wont produce sacks unless he has a clean gap to shoot on a designed play but will stop plays at his level all game.

Simply a tackle hog. Very athletic. Potentially an Alpha Male LB with Anthony as a running mate.

His injury however is complicating instead of healing and his positive medical reviews appear to be dwindling. Went from Top 5 draft pick to Draft free falling. Damn shame honestly.

No. They are both high effort players with great scouting reports especially in creating pass rush. I will look to see how they do in other tests but speed for Rankins is essential especially due to being undersized unless he is strong as frick. For a DE to pair with Jordan it is more sexy than essential. Cam is not a speed rusher so ideally we would attempt to pair him with one.

Knee ligament damage, ACL/MCL, is common in Sports Medicine. Hopefully his nerves come back 100%. The draft is around 70 days away, we will find out more info about this serious injury. OBJ missed 6 games his rookie season and same with Gurley. I bet if you ask those teams if they would do it again, they would without hesitation. If Jaylon is available we should consider it whether he has to miss 8 games or not. Last season we drafted Garrett Grayson, in the 3rd round, as a redshirt pick just saying.

I do love the idea of Kevin Dodd on 1 side and Cam Jordan on the other. That could be a dominant duo.

Okay thanks like I said didn't get to watch much this year. I do think it'd be nice to get a tackling machine but knee injuries scare me

Obj only missed 4 and it wasn't an injury that he had before the draft.

His position on the field isn't based on getting sacks. It's all about pass coverage and run stopping young man.

Pulled hamstrings are pretty common on tall, fast wide receivers. OBJ had a history of this, even at LSU.

We knew GG wasn't going to play (Thankfully) his rookie year.

As horrible as this defense is, they could spend every single pick on the D side and I would be fine with that, but I'd hope they would all contibute something in 2016.

Dang, I watched him all through college- I woulda bet money he was taller.

He sure seems taller when he's running.

Feedback coming back today on Jaylon Smith is not positive. Can confirm reports that he failed his medical exam with multiple teams. #Shame

Apparently, a few teams have taken him off their draft boards.

quote:

TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline reports that "There are a number of teams who think [Notre Dame LB Jaylon] Smith could fall into the draft's last day."
Well this is just getting depressing now. Earlier on Saturday, it was reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeff Legwold that multiple teams had failed Smith's physical on Friday and that three teams (at least) have decided they want nothing to do with the 6-foot-3, 223-pounder as he recovers from the torn ACL and MCL suffered during the Fiesta Bowl. Nerve damage has also reportedly been discovered in his knee and ankle. Pauline paints a grim scene from the weigh-in. Wrote the analyst, "Smith struggled moving the leg as well as controlling the leg. I was told it was a glum mood and there was a lot of sadness for Smith from the scouts and coaches on hand. From one source I heard, "I felt like crying for the kid.""

$5 million in insurance, nowhere near what he'll lose... I wish he could withdraw and get healthy, reenter next year.

Yep. Dude isn't going to play at all next year and has nerve damage potentially.

He would be the worst possible pick. You don't draft a guy in the top 12 that is not playing that year and may never fully recover.

The saints will be best served to draft someone who can play immediately. The organizations recent track record for bringing in players with an injury history or recovering from surgery has not served them well.
This team does not have the luxury to draft a player and wait for him to be healthy.

I just hope we draft Su'a Cravens in the 2nd. Doubt he makes it though. Dude is a straight playmaker.
