Some Dalton perspective

4 First rounders
2 Second rounders
4 3rd rounders
1 5th rounder
Former first round te
Former 2nd round qb
This was the total cost the last two years for 4 veteran quarterbacks traded around the league.
Wilson, Stafford, Wentz, and Ryan. All are former all pros, MVPs or super bowl champions.
And the ginger is outplaying all four of them by a wide margin. It’s not even close to be honest. He didn’t cost anything to obtain and his base salary was 3.5 this year. Hard to really complain what he is giving us which might be the best value contract in the entire NFL for a veteran not on a rookie deal.

Which sucks because we won't be able to afford to keep him next year, but Dalton was never staying here past one year once he became the starter.
If he played badly we would've drafted a rookie qb and asked him to beat out jameis, who is under contract next year on a pretty friendly deal.
If he plays well like this some team will try to replicate the colts and overpay him to try to capture a playoff birth.

Then prove me wrong. Tell me why we'll be able to afford to keep him if he keeps paying well, and tell me why we should keep him if he keeps playing up and down.

If a team wants to pay him big bucks sure, let them go for it.
But we, and every other sane nfl team won't be paying much next year for Red. And I don't need to prove that as it will play out in the off season. I think the Saints will try to find a better QB for the next couple of years till the "guy" is found and if that fails will look to resign Red. I don't see JW back next year.

Who's paying a 36 year old Andy Dalton? This is the best we've seen of Andy Dalton since like 2015 and this is the best we'll ever get from him. It's downhill from here. He's about to hit that same wall every QB not named Tom Brady hits. And let me remind you that peak Andy Dalton never won a single playoff game.
I can't believe we went from Drew Brees and Sean Payton to Andy fricking Dalton and Dennis Allen. I didn't prepare myself for this to happen so quickly.

Thank you for the stupid take, Mrs. Winston....

but let me remind you he took them to 5 straight playoff appearances.....which is something Brees couldn't even do.

Stop comparing dalton to brees…..in any way

This would reassure me a whole lot more had we not already traded away most of our future top picks doing other shite.

I'm not comparing the two, dinkus.
I'm simply stating that the argument of him never winning a playoff game is disingenuous when he was also able to get them the opportunity to win a playoff game 5 seasons in a row. Not many other quarterbacks can say the same.
No one is expecting Dalton to get us to a Super Bowl.
