Should Saints entertain Winston or Newton?

These two aren't popular picks, but hear me out. Foremost, as people, I can't stand both players. In fact, I despise both and think they are head cases. That said, Brees has one, maybe two years left. I think two is a stretch and I anticipate that this will be Brees last year. That said, should the Saints entertain the idea of picking up Newton or Winston as Brees' successor? Outside of Burrow, which we aren't getting, there aren't too many quarterbacks that excite me in this draft. Also, I love Taysom, but he isn't the answer as an every-down type quarterback. If he was, Sean wouldn't have him running around and playing special teams.

Winston would be a fantastic backup for a year. Should Brees get hurt again, there would be a guy who threw for 5,000 yards last season to take his place.

Cam will never take backup pay.
Winston if he listens to good advice and has a want to get better should sit behind a good pro and good program for a year.
He may.
Or some team tells him what he wants to hear and throws a load of money at him.

With 30 interceptions. I’d rather a QB throw for 3500 yards with 5 interceptions.

I second this. Doesn't matter how many yards you throw if you just drive the field and give it to the defense.

Cam is a big question with his injury so I'd say no for now.
I think Jameis would be a good option if you weren't asking him to throw 35-40 passes a game since he tends to be sloppy with some decisions.
Agree. I think he's just the kind of player who do it all. He's an extraordinary talent.. hard to come by.
Probably my favorite Saints player currently.

I’d take a look at Winston.
Frick a Cam Newton though

seeing either of those jackasses in a Saints uniform would hurt to the core.

Who in the world would want cam newton on their team? He has to be the most inaccurate qb in the history in the NFL with that many starts.
Dude is also obviously suffering from massive cte... and is straight up insane.
Theres going to be a sad documentary about this kid in 10-20 years.
Winston is a interception machine with terrible decision making. He has a lot of tools, and is pretty talented but decision making is a pretty important asset for a qb, and he has one of the worst, and the records to prove it.
No thanks,no thanks, no thanks.

Put me in the no column
Not that it matters, neither one of them is going to sign on to be our QB3.

I’d take cam in a heartbeat
Jameis I can take or leave. Would like to see if Payton could save his career but I have my doubts

Of course you would, so would everyone else but there isn't a QB sitting out there like that the Saints can sign. The Saints can't do better than Winston as a backup at this stage of free agency.

Jameis is going to be good. We’d be smart to get him.

Cam took too many painkillers.
I’d take both though. Cam is going to be newly motivated to get another big contract etc.
Jameis is going to rebound.

Dude has been in the league for 5 years, had arguably the best wr corps, and a mastermind respected offensive coach last year. Hes still setting shitty records.
What's your basis for "going to be good"

I would take both but the pick would be Winston. Cam can find a starting spot.

Well be eating Ws without their services. We dont need the fricking drama. We have one of the top locker rooms in the country. I dont see CSP or Loomis doing anything to jeopardize that.
