explain to me how running the ball with 2:09 left on second down runs out the clock. when the team has two timeouts that they obviously wouldve used on 3rd.

it wouldve burnt maybe 10-15 extra seconds tops.

No it would have burned about 50 seconds or forced minnesota to burn their timeouts which they needed each one on that drive.

they would have had to use 1. they wouldntve needed to use one on second since the 2:00 warning hit.

They used those timeouts on their last drive. They wouldn't have had them available then. We let them keep those timeouts.

Geez, this isn't rocket science people.

so he runs it and 9 seconds run off to the 2 minute warning. then they throw an incompletion on 3rd down and the vikings use no timeouts and you are basically in the exact same position.

not at all.

He runs it, it goes to 2:00, he can run it or flare out to Bush then, clock going down or....forcing the Vikings to use one timeout.

Big difference from 1:20 on the clock with two, or 1:50 and one.....

And if Reg/ whoever fumbles on 1 of those said runs, and Minn takes it to the house then what would you cry about???

No on 2nd down it was at ~2:13, so we run get <2 yards and it ticks down to the 2 min warning.

they wouldve had one timeout instead of two. still wouldve had 1:45 and one timeout needing to go 35 yards. yeah payton's crazy for wanting to pick up the first.

first off, you would think that one of payton's brain cells would remind him that Deuce is on the team and he gets the ball. Second, you are dealing with possibilities, I am dealing with leaving the least amount of time on the clock for the vikings to drive the ball.

one run plays will use 8 seconds...esp with a guy like deuce just pushing the pile....

this guy payton just doesn't know how to coach in late game situations.....

in 3 yrs how many times have the saints come from behind in the last minutes or broken a tie and run it out.? i can only think of the philly game in yr 1....our offense has too many moving parts and is prone to finesse. we're the hare...minny was the tortoise tonight....

Soooo, you were predicting the Gramatica miss. I did not know this. I was thinking we kick off and they need to go about 50 yards. Oh well.

The mishandling of the clock is irrespective of the outcome.

Is it really that hard to read my posts. That's the first think I said.

The Saints running game sucks arse. We can't just run it twice there and get a 1st down. Ain't happenin.

Tell me one fricking thing to be positive about in this game?

Well I'm still working on that because the performances of Reggie Bush (2 punt returns for TD's) and Brees (having another 300+ yd game) are totally overshadowed by all the things that went wrong. I just think pointing your finger at Peyton to be fired immediately is a little drastic. Looking back on the whole game, there are plenty of things that went wrong that weren't due to playcalling (I can't even get into them b/c I'm going to get upset all over again ). I do agree that the playcalling might not have been best for the situation, but saying he should be fired immediately is a little over the top.

Except for the fricking fact that I said that the first post this thread. But thanks for being an arse and making this personal.

I think we are both dealing with Ifs. If one of the passes is complete no thread.

Your saying the runs would have gone off without a problem. That is a possibility, but it could easily be a fumble as well.

Why not just kneel the ball then? That would be the safest possible play.

I like the play calling at the end. Saints running game is shite.

Need to go to Deuce more than just at the end. Once again Payton's record with Deuce in the game and 12+ carries is twice as good as when he does not give Deuce the carries.
