I don't think he messed up. I agree with throwing the ball. We didn't trust our kicker enough, rightfully so, to just try to run time down.

If you don't trust your kicker, then you DO run the time down to play for overtime.

no devery kept running into the coverage when he should have broken his route out at the first down. looked like a cover 3, and he should have sat down in the deep out zone rather than continuing deep.

We didn't trust our kicker and our offensive line was getting their asses wooped so you wanted to run the ball?

it makes a difference when the only way min was able to score was STs....all of a sudden we give them great field position being down by 7 or 10...smacks of desperation and being overcome by the passion of the moment....

payton is the kind of person who thinks you can score 10 pts on 1 play....no defensive acumen either...

we weren't running the ball for shite and we knew we couldn't rely on dipshit to make a crucial kick. we had to put the ball in the air.

except in this case running down the clock means burning a max of 15 seconds and one wasted timeout.

that on top of not trusting your kicker from that distance means it's a no brainer you go for the first down.

shite, I made my bones on this board before you ever heard of it. Find one other thread where I have gone off like this for LSU, Saints or any other team. This rant is justified.

the onside kick was in the first half!!! The difference was the turnovers period. just because the difference in the game was 3 means nothing to me before the half. The onside kick did not COST the saints the game. hindsight gives that impression to someone who bases the game on one play in the first half.

The game is decided by points. When those points come do not matter. Going by your point, the fact that they blocked a fg for a touchdown doesn't matter because it was in the first half too. The game is about momentum. That onside kick was a momentum changer.

it was pretty close to the situation where we did it against dallas. after we recovered it the game was pretty much over.

2:09 left, third and 8. Running the ball there would have been STUPID since it would have only taken about an extra 4 seconds off the clock. If devery runs the correct route, its a FIRST DOWN.

did you think the onside kick cost the saints the game after they took the lead on the punt return??? NO. Only after the game was decided by a missed FG.

onside kicks will work sometimes. They are just risky and need to be used in the right spot. That was the wrong spot.

devery didn't have a bad game...a td, a long pass.
he only dropped 2 passes and ran 1 wrong route....

moore had a horrific game...1 int on him, got no separation all day...

according to the announcers they work 65% of the time if you take out end of the game onside kicks(when it's obviously coming) out of the equation.
