If you land #3, you don't stay at #3. You either send an offer to Chi to jump to #1, or you trade back and pick up more picks for your rebuild. #3 is not an ideal position as you are "stuck" with whoever falls between (Levis, Young & Stroud). You have to love all 3 to be willing to just wait.
Edit: Other option would be to sit at 3 and let 2 of those QBs go (Chicago will not pick #1) and just take Will Anderson to finally get that DE opposite (and eventually replace) Cam

We are getting that first pick....There have been numerous cases made that Sean Payton is more valuable to an organization than a franchise qb. He wins football games. The Cardinals have invested in their franchise qb heavily. They need a qb coach who can get the most out of that investment. His wife is a spa chick. Arizona makes the most sense
I will bet you anything they will not give us #3 for Sean. I’ll bet the fate of the planet. We aren’t getting that pick.

Which is fine, but they have to pay a tax on that.
1st next year and an extra 2 next year as well.

I agree with that. I think, if we do the deal, we end up with:
Their 2nd this year (pick 34)
Their 1st next year
Another additional pick. I hope next years 2nd, but maybe a 3rd.
All of that together is not in the same stratosphere of value as the 3rd pick.

It’s not, but it’s damn strong. You’re talking about 3 top 50 picks(assuming the cardinals 2nd is in the top 50 picks which I think is safe)

That's been my assumption if it ends up being Arizona..
2nd that is almost a first
maybe a third that's almost a 2nd
then 1st next year
that gives us 4 picks inside of top 71 this year
+ our #1 overall next year and Arizona's late-ish first in '24

Agreed. It would be a great package for us to get, and just what we need to reload.

With the 2 early seconds, we should be able to address 2 of these spots - g, dt, s, and wr.

F all this about a 2nd. Arizona wants him? Then you will give us the 3rd overall pick, and then some 2024 picks. Oh well if you don’t like it.

I'm 100% ok with a 2nd and they throw in their next year's 1st.

Cool idea... I'm gonna post my car for sale today for about 3x what is worth, and I won't come down at all. I won't sell the car, but at least I'll still have car unlike the saints when Sean goes elsewhere when the contract runs out.

We’re not getting #3. 2nd this year and 1st next

The insane draft capital that some are wanting here might even be semi-realistic if it netted Sean on a decent contract. This doesn't seem to be the case though... apparently Sean wants insane money. So if you have to pay insane draft capital and insane salary, it gets to the point where even a great coach isn't worth it
