I love how people just make all this shite up about payton. He hates the cold. His wife wants to be in la only. He prefers skittles to sour patch kids.
Where do y'all get this shite from?

Money ain't, but their trash picks are an issue.

The biggest issue i see with this isnt the draft capital. That can be replaced with existing players. Its the vic fangio angle if we are to believe that report is true.
Player-wise, we could take one of their top receivers like jeudy or one of their top offensive lineman, preferably a guard. Or a defensive tackle since we dont have any

Things that are also possible is a first, a 3rd, Justin Simmons or Jeudy.

Cool. So much for being aggressive to get Sean. Saints will just hold on to him.

Yeah, Wilson is washed up and they sold the stable for him.
Sean P wants a QB with longevity or a high profile rookie.

So you want to overplay your hand and just wait for his contract to lapse?
Hell, all things considered if you get multiple picks and he stays in the AFC.. id take that in a heartbeat.

That’s not the way contracts work. The contract term cannot lapse as long as he stays retired. Same thing happened with Mike Holmgren back in the day.

Of course...but dude, he's already putting his staff together. We all know he is coaching next year. Its the worst kept secret in the league.
Posted on 1/1/23 at 11:23 pm to Sauce Castieaux
Only if the Saints get a fair offer. I suspect Sean thinks we will do him a favor and trade him to wherever he wants to go. The truth is the Saints have all the cards here and should only deal him if the trade is the best they can get.
Posted on 1/1/23 at 11:24 pm to Sauce Castieaux
All things considered id rather the saints pull the trigger on a 1st than him waiting another year and potentially going to a rival.
Posted on 1/1/23 at 11:30 pm to Sauce Castieaux
He can’t leave unless we trade him. He can wait 5 years and it wouldn’t matter. Saints own his rights.
Posted on 1/1/23 at 11:34 pm to Ancient Astronaut
His contract ends in 2024. It doesnt work like player contracts.
Posted on 1/1/23 at 11:42 pm to Sauce Castieaux
Btw can anyone source this for sure?
I know players have to actually play to become a free agent. But im fairly sure its different for non players. I just cant find a definitive answer

Broncos have the 49ers 1st rounder but that pick is trash and gonna be in the low 20s at best. Unless they give up a couple 2nd rounders as well which they don't have until 2024. Our best option would be if he goes to Arizona. Just trade for their 1st outright. We don't want to trade for any players. Unless it's a good rookie with multiple years on the contract. We need draft capital more so to possibly draft a QB. Loomis needs to be shot if he doesn't get Gruden like compensation. This season has proven how a top coach might be the 2nd most important piece after QB.

There's going to be no fewer than 6 teams that are in the market for him. The return should be high - anything less and he needs to stay his arse put in retirement.
So the logic is if you don’t enter exactly what you want let him sit 2 more years and get nothing?

Honestly, their 1st and 3rd and Jeudy would do it. That would be a good trade.

Denver is an attractive destination for players. It’s a franchise with juice as Sean would say. I can see this happening.
