The Saints wrapped their mandatory minicamp today, Thursday, Jun 13, and signed former Dolphins, Titans and Jets wide receiver Rishard Matthews who had been in for tryouts at the start of the three-day event. To make room on the roster for Matthews, the Saints are finally parting ways with former LSU receiver Travin Dural who was going into his third year with the team.

Travin Dural has had one of the more unlucky careers since coming out of high school in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana in 2012. He was a four-star recruit when he landed on campus in Baton Rouge but had to miss that year with a torn meniscus. Most of his career at LSU was him either being behind Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry or dealing with an injury.

He's been injured too much, and was always a longshot to make the team. I'm an LSU fan, but I have zero problems with this.

kinda expected him gone last year

he strikes me as just a good receiver in a field competing against too many great receivers across the league.

i think he is a good guy and i hope he can find a fit with a team somewhere desperate for even average receivers, which i think is the ceiling for dural being just an average receiver

When we won the SB we had an LSU receiver. Not a smart move, don’t let your hate for LSU cloud your judgement Sean! Is this retaliation for losing Joe Brady?

Shut up.

List of WRs we have better than him
Michael Thomas
TreQuan Smith
Ted Ginn
Keith Kirkwood
Austin Carr
Rishard Matthews
Simmie Cobbs
Emanuel Butler
Lil Jordan Humphrey
Chad Hansen
Cameron Meredith

We did him a favor by cutting him early to catch on elsewherehe was never making this team
Even Harris and Grayson have returner upside which he does not

I mentioned earlier I thought Cobbs would get a hard look. I think they are doing that.

Grayson was apparently turning some heads at minicamp as a receiver. Not sure about his catching ability but I imagine they could use his speed as a decoy or run some reverse plays with him

We still have one tiger on the roster so let’s not lose hope for the season just yet.

I was disappointed that when SP finally acquired another LSU player, it was a undrafted guy from LSU's offense, one who couldn't separate from a wet paper bag his last year in college.

Meanwhile, the rest of the NFC South were annually drafting LSU defensive playmakers who became solid to super starters.
